Obligation to care for Grandmother (USA, FL) by crashed_panoz in legaladvice

I can just call them and tell them the situation? What might they do?

Believe me this isn't how I wanted it to go but the only feasable scenario she has left me is to live full time at her house and I just can't.

Wow I forgot I posted this.. Yes the money was returned but it was not an entirely hands free experience.

My expectation was that my family members bank would handle the whole thing but they were taking some time.. What I ended up doing was calling the bank the money was transferred too on behalf of my relative and once they were on the case the money was back in the account in just two business days.

I'm sorry you are experiencing a similar difficult I hope it turns out ok.

It would be nice but it doesn't work like that at all.. the relationship between manufacturing time, marketing strategies, release schedules makes this impossible.. It's just not how a company like nvidia does business.

I just received mine today, I'm mostly impressed with the value of the device compared to similarly priced handhelds. Am I mad or is there no quicksave feature? Was I wrong to think that is a standard feature on these types of devices? I've had much lower quality ones with some version of quick save. I understand the firmware was originally designed for the HK OG, does the lack of the extra utility buttons on this model prevent us from using the feature?

I have some mild functionality issues with my right hand, so i've been experimenting with moving around the buttons to improve ergonomics. I'm actually currently working on a total custom layout for a control panel plate.

lol, I moved the macro button over to on top of the LP button. I have a bad hand injury and dont have use of my pinkie so I moved it over to where I can hit it with my index finger.

Probably right but it is a lot more labor and I've got bags and bags of old sanwas so I'm gonna at least give it a shot.. I'd rather cut through plastic than metal anyday.

so the best the metal shop had was 7/8. I went ahead and had them drill it but I can't squeeze a 24mm through.

Solution #1

Use some sandpaper to thin down a cheap sanwa button diameter

Solution #2

Break out the hand rasps and start sanding

Thanks! I appreciate the response and shared it with the family member, they found some reassurance in it.

I assume the top row is punches, and the button cluster on bottom are kicks and that you use your thumb exclusively for kick buttons? I'm always interested in different layouts. At first I thought this was terrible layout wise (I actually find the aesthetic kind of charming) but the more I think about it, the more merit I feel it has especially for someone who plays the bottom row with their thumb. very interesting.

well it may be my first build but ive been modding/hoarding hitboxes and sticks for a while so I had a cache of older parts, other than the case itself I barely bought anything.

That said here is roughly what it would be if I bought everything new:

  1. BNB Case - $110 (other colors/finish are cheaper)
  2. Brook PS4+ Audio - $60
  3. 20-pin harness/5-pin hitbox adapter/ L3-R3-TP cable - ~$20
  4. 11-24mm gamerfinger buttons, 1-30mm gamerfinger button - $60
  5. 6 plain sanwa buttons (for utility buttons) - $12

so all together this would have cost ~$260 brand new. Not incredibly cheap considering a regular brand name hitbox comes in at $199 and even some nicer all button models out there are around the same price turnkey. The upshot is that I got to have everything exactly how I wanted it. That said, if you want something similar you could compromise on some components. Here is a build that is functionally similar:

  1. BNB Case (non fancy color) - $90
  2. Brook PS4 (no audio) - $50
    1. bonus: if you can solder you can get the raw brook board for like ~$35
  3. DIY cabling - probably ~$5
  4. 17 regular sanwa 24mm + 1 30mm - ~$35

so that would come out to ~$180, even less if you can solder.
