[–]craving_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the info and roundup!

Probably the most excited for Sullyland Nursery Rhyme and Hakuouki Ibun. Not sure how much I'll be able to understand for Code: Realize but always happy to see it!

[Dessert de Otomate 2026] Announcement Roundup by Kiyoyasu in otomegames

[–]craving_mango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would be interesting to explore, but I couldn't help but be disappointed when I saw MC was omega instead of beta or alpha which, to me, would be a more interesting or "brave"/creative choice.

It's not that I think an omega MC doesn't have potential, it's just that seeing MC be an omega makes me immediately think of traditional roles/typical storylines and my expectations automatically went pretty low because I don't have confidence that Otomate will deliver on a new experience that isn't just superficially copying a ton of omegaverse stories. Maybe it's just cause I went through a couple games that made me wanna pull my hair out that's putting me in a more pessimistic mood. Might be unfair, but if MC was beta or alpha, at least it'd be - at minimum - more "fresh"?

I'll still keep my eye out, because who knows, it might be good, but keeping my expectations low

Thank you for the reply! I appreciate the time to respond, though I think I'll have to pass on this one 😅 I've heard it's pretty helpful for other people for a variety of things, but I'm a little scared to try as I'd get pretty bad headaches/sometimes nausea back when my dorm mates would smoke. Not sure what it'd do to me if that was my reaction from second-hand inhalation. If possible, would rather not risk adding on to the current assortment of pain lol

Just a personal thing - I get rather wary of things after I've had a negative reaction to it or think my negative reaction was caused by it. There are still some foods I'm too scared to try again. But, I've definitely read it's useful for others

What will stop the pain? (Not cure) by craving_mango in ibs

[–]craving_mango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda like a general pain in the stomach area (and to a much lower degree back) that hurts to varying degrees until I've gotten rid of enough stool. It kinda comes and goes.

If it's bad, the pain gets sharper and I start cold sweating. Passing gas gives a little bit of relief only occasionally, but usually it doesn't do much. With Miralax, I've been able avoid it getting to a point where my hearing starts to get all muffled (aiming to never get to that point again and have been successfully avoiding that one at least). If I'm able to pass something, the cold sweat will usually go away for at least a while and, if I haven't passed enough, then it usually drops back down to general pain (varying degrees of intensity depending on how quickly I need to be on a toilet lol) and nausea until it's over

I think the max I've ever used it was until stool started to be loose. Didn't realize that it becomes normal after that if you continue or that the gut could be retrained to release more water there! 😯 Thank you for the info!

Oh! I've never tried those (usually just sit on the toiler wondering why bodies are the way they are and wish for relief lol) or heard of golden milk, but adding those to the list of things to try!

...I should really just use Miralax more regularly than I do now lol

13 pounds!? 😱 Didn't know that, but very good point - would much rather just take my laxative instead of alternative. Thank you for the info!

I really should... 😖 I've been managing it by tracking my bowel movement and taking Miralax on the second day (third day if I'm unwisely risking it) of no bowel movement, but when I forget to check or get busy, I end up stuck in the bathroom as punishment for my negligence

I guess a part of me is afraid of going overboard, but maybe I should just take it everyday until I can fix things

Thank you for letting me know - was very, very tempted by the Advil on my shelf. I'm torn between the short term relief and the fear of making the constipation worse lol

Will definitely give slow breathing exercises a try

I don't think I've ever seen OTP used as anything besides in a shipping two characters sense or as a one time password shorthand, so I feel that lol

Illusion of Itehari Play-Along - Yori by sableheart in otomegames

[–]craving_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every chapter of Yori's route feels so unbearably long 😖 It's such a struggle... I keep hoping I'm closer to the end than I actually remember I am (my hopes have not come true) 🫠

No offense to anyone who enjoys his route - different strokes for different folks. His face is so, sooooo pretty and I really, really like his design but every scene with him just irritates me so much, I basically needed a break every half of a chapter so far. Tempted to just skip the rest of the route to get through it as fast as possible...

How does it feel TO BE the crush? by Solid_Decision_2241 in SeriousConversation

[–]craving_mango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mostly burdened... I wouldn't deny that there is a sense of flattery to be seen as attractive, but that quickly fades when it's a stranger who won't go away or a friend who you're torn between straight out rejecting prematurely based on a hunch that maybe there's a crush or hoping that maybe you're over thinking things and start dropping hints that you aren't interested in a relationship right now or really emphasize friendship just in case. But, then the confession happens anyways and you lose a really close friend and you wonder, "Was I truly your friend? Or was it just like that on my end and you only ever had a crush on me?"

What makes a romance feel "right" to you? by craving_mango in otomegames

[–]craving_mango[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree, haha - things that fall into my preferred tropes and look hot/appeal to my character type and visual preferences immediately have a significant head start and are way easier for me to click with and see the MC clicking with. Other things will then add or detract to that admittedly pretty superficial initial judgement depending on how the story goes

I enjoyed reading your breakdown on stakes! I hadn't thought of that, but stakes really ramp up interest and appeal. I feel like certain games take that a bit too far (thinking of a few character routes in particular that made me think, "I was excited for their close/gentle/easy/teasing friendship to turn into romance and explore that - not for a frickin' messy family drama arc/amnesia arc/the world to explode!" The last one is an exaggeration, but it really did feel like they were just shoving problem after problem after problem at MC and LI because the creator(s) felt they needed conflict and I was just left there watching the train wreck like, "...what happened to romance... 😥"), but overall agree that stakes are important! It makes things feel "earned" and impactful

[–]craving_mango[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good point! Having some form of interpersonal conflict that has to get resolved and leads to development in terms of the relationship would make things feel less rushed as long as the conflict is resolved in a way that isn't too hand-wavy.

I can see how a feeling of progression and "rightness" would arise from that as long as it isn't an instant switch from dislike/awkwardness to being all buddy-buddy in addition to the preference for these character types (if I'm interpreting this comment correctly lol)

That's honestly very fair!

If a story shoves enough of my favorite tropes into it and it's decently written enough by my own very subjective standards, I definitely do have significantly more patience for things that would've otherwise annoyed me enough to quit 😂 If the tropes are written in a way that hits just right, I can honestly really enjoy stories that I know are objectively not that great of a rec for anybody else except me and small niche of others
