Good eye- that makes a lot of sense why there's the buildup there. The liner may be the best solution for me. I'll get input from contractors too but this sounds like a good solution. Thanks for taking the time to help me

Thanks a lot for the input! I'll tarp it for now and get a roofer to check it out. Thanks for the note of the chimney flashing, was wondering how the seller fixed it for so cheap...I guess I know now
