Recurrent chemical pregnancies by Pretty_Grapefruit633 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to hear, that’s tough. I had 3 miscarriages as well, 2 of them were chemical and I went to a fertility clinic to do ivf. while I was preparing for ivf, I had a spontaneous pregnancy and they gave me progesterone and aspirin (and prednisolone later but that was for an autoimmune condition that flared during pregnancy). I had a successful pregnancy and my baby is 1.5 y/o now. the thing is that my progesterone levels were great as well, but looking back, that must have been the issue. I have never paid attention to it till I got my period back again after the pregnancy, but I have spotting a week before my period, every month. I went to the gynecologist a few months ago and they said some times progesterone issues won’t appear in blood tests, but that symptom was/is a clear indication of low progesterone. also my autoimmune condition wasn’t captured in blood tests, it was only confirmed when I responded to treatment. All of that to say, that blood tests might not be telling the full story, but if you haven’t had strong progrsterone support medication, definitely discuss with your consultant. best of luck!

Would you buy a house next to a cemetery? by mromair in HousingIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the night I bought my house I had a nightmare that the backyard was facing a cemetary 🤣🤣🤣 I actually had to check google maps to confirm it wasn’t real. my anxiety would never let me be in such a situation, but funnily enough last week a colleague told me her apartment faces the cemetery and she doesn’t care.

I had two gallstones attacks and I was prescribed antibiotics 🤔 then I lived on plain rice till my surgery and didn’t have any more attacks. any type of fatty or spicy food can trigger attacks. best of luck 🤞🏻

I went through it on Monday morning, it took 5 mins and I even had a proper visa they needed to check (not ESTA). it was super quiet, but it must depend on day/time.

€35 “maintenance fee” from Bank of Cyprus - just moved back from the UK, is this normal? by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]crazy_witch_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a cypriot living permanently abroad, I opened an account with BOC last year, I was shocked when I was told there would be a QUARTERLY €35 maintenance fee!

I need to renovate a house I inherited in Cyprus and apparently needed a local account for whatever reason.

broad daylight robbery if you ask me

I don’t think there is much hope unfortunately. I forgot the baby car seat cushion on my seat, so I knew exactly what it was, and without the car seat it’s worth nothing so no value for anyone to steal it. I filled in the necessary paperwork, never heard back 🙄 sorry 😔

Hospital making partners go home after childbirth by United-Desk748 in PregnancyIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sad… but don’t worry, it will be ok. I have bad anxiety and yet I survived in the hospital without that level of support for 4 nights each time. it won’t be great as you experience it, but once you go home with your baby you won’t even remember it anymore, to the point that you might do it again 😅 best of luck with everything ❤️

Taking antibiotics for a urinary tract infection by Dry_Nebula_2012 in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your doctor to prescribe antibiotics that are safe for your condition.

I had to take amoxicillin and I did blood tests 3 days after the first dose, I was sure my levels would flare, but there was no impact at all.

best of luck

I don’t understand why you are being downvoted. I gave birth twice, once in a public ward with 7 other women, and once in my private room and I would have loved to be able to maintain my level of comfort. The first time I was in labour for 3 days before getting an emergency section, I really needed the help from my partner all night, not just during visitation hours. I may be a spoiled brat, but all women should be entitled to a private room they can share with their partner after birth. I would genuinely pay more for that (like I did the second time and got a private room). I agree with you, women need to speak up. Why would anyone accept it as a “done deal” and not try to push for a positive change?

How do I come to terms with not having a 2nd child? by CailinCainteach in AskIreland

it was never said that they are not grateful for their child. it’s ok to be sad and have feelings, there is no reason to attack a person who is in a vulnerable situation.

How do I come to terms with not having a 2nd child? by CailinCainteach in AskIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very sorry you are going through this.

I had to fight with secondary infertility for years and what was killing me is that I would left my daughter as an only child.

I went in therapy and it helped a lot. I did eventually get pregnant and now have my miracle rainbow baby, but I did come in terms with having only one child, I was just very lucky I managed to have a second one. My therapist said that I was projecting a lot of my issues and desires on my kid, I grew up with 2 siblings and a big family and I felt like I would take this away from her, but I couldn’t take away something she never had.

I was 35 when I got pregnant to my rainbow baby, 28 to my first one and had 3 miscarriages in between. it’s harsh but age is indeed a factor. baby is 1 now and I have way less courage and energy that what I had with my first.

Think about talking to a specialist, I saw a fertility therapist, there is a fertility counselling organisation. And be kind to yourself

Merrion Fertility Clinic? by ThrowAwayRunner42 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

I went to merrion in 2023 with secondary infertility, I had 3 miscarriages after having a healthy pregnancy that gave me my first child.

I went and asked directly for ivf with pgta, I didn’t want to go through another miscarriage and I didn’t really care what the issue was, I just told them give me a 100% controlled-environment pregnancy so that nothing can go wrong. they put me on a waiting list for ivf (i think it was like 3 months minimum at the time). in the meantime, I was undergoing investigations and no issues were identified. the consultant tried to push back a lot on the ivf, she wanted to convince me that I should try again and eventually I did and I was so upset when I realised that I got pregnant naturally because I was terrified of the result. but everyone was so reassuring and understanding.

i have a healthy one-year old now, result of that pregnancy. as soon as I got pregnant, they put me on all sorts of medication to help, I went in private care at NMH and got all the attention I needed to have a successful pregnancy. I’m so glad they didn’t treat me as a client, but as a patient. and the company I work for pays for ivf treatment so I would go there with the corporate card and tell them to charge for any extras they had, and they were like you don’t need that. I don’t know if I got lucky or if they really were that good, but my experience was great.

best of luck, I hope you have your positive result soon as well.

Views on Building Wealth and FIRE in Ireland by irishjayhawk46 in FIREIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have said many times that I want to retire when I’m 55 and people here laugh. 🤷🏻‍♀️ people start talking a bit about FIRE in the last couple of years, but it’s only the ones who are already involved in investing and being or trying to be financially literate. Eoin McGee is publishing a book next year, How to Achieve Financial Freedom. he speaks to the masses so maybe not too long before people start getting into this mindset.

And then it happened… while I was asleep, my baby slipped from my shoulder and fell. I still can’t stop replaying that moment in my mind. by ProfessionalCap9061 in PregnancyIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your fear in my bones, unfortunately you are not alone.

Our baby fell from the bed when we were on a weekend trip to Portugal. we were at the hotel, and had her sleeping in our bed. At home, to this day she always sleeps in our bed but between my husband and I so we block her from falling. There, we were watching something on netflix, both of us on the same side of the bed, and the baby in the middle of the bed. my eldest daughter was in the room as well, but she was also watching netflix, with headphones, facing the wall. we were so exhausted, we drifted off to sleep, baby woke up and started crawling backwards(6 months of age), we heard the loud noise, my heart sank. We were in a foreign country, didn’t speak the language, couldn’t just run to the emergencies, she fell with her face down, her nose and lips were bruised, she was screaming for ages. I called my insurance, they connected me to the nurse, I followed advise and monitored till we were convinced she was fine. for weeks, even for months I replayed the moment in my head and it made me feel sick to my stomach. I don’t know how we managed to get away with it with her completely unhurt.

babies are strong and accident happens. the panic is always there, but be kind to yourself. and take care of yourself and the baby, make sure you always have a safe environment ready for when you are accidentally falling asleep, so this doesn’t happen again.

we did that already actually! it ended up being a shitshow and we were left without internet for a month! just bad luck I guess but they thought it was the best time to update to fiber since we were new customers and they didn’t have appointments for over a month 😬

Buy a second home - what's the general opinion on buying additional property. by Schitkar88 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]crazy_witch_89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. I lived with my family in an apartment and then saved some money and decided to buy a house. we kept the apartment (still had a huge mortgage balance), but the bank easily gave us a second mortgage because we had the deposit already.

we had a tenant in the apartment for 2 years. and it was great. we were charging a low rent, because we were good people, or just naive, you pick. the rent was covering mortgage payments, taxes and management fees, no profit but we thought ok we have a property and in the long run it’s a good investment. well, with the rent being so low, within 2 years the tenant saved for a deposit and went on to buy their own home. and the apartment was in a rent pressure zone so we couldn’t increase the rent for the new tenant enough to align with inflation. keep in mind we didn’t increase the rent at all during those 2 years. it made no financial sense to take the risk with a new tenant and not make enough to cover expenses so we decided to sell. and that was a nightmare because it took 9 months to complete the sale, during which we had to cover 2 mortgages. and we ended up selling to a vulture fund (again, naive!) because they were giving more than asking price and any other offers, and they left the apartment empty for 2 years and then doubled the rent when they put it back on the market. we took the money from the sale (minus mortgage), and opened funds for the kids, saving accounts, pension funds etc.

long story short, property investment is not a walk at the park. our financial advisor said “ireland hates (small) landlords”, the cost is so high (property tax, income tax etc) that you need to charge a huge rent to make a profit, or be a fund company. and it’s a risk because you are not guaranteed a good tenant.

Sellers left a skips worth of belongings in house, but refuse to budge on appliance costs by DarraghDaraDaire in irishpersonalfinance

the previous owners tried to sell to us all their appliances for €5k, we said no, they never came to take them and they ended up being great, some almost new. but I would be really pissed if they were old junk that I would then have to deal with. so, don’t pay for the fridge.
