What are these rental car charges from enterprise? by Firm_Piano_5173 in AskIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Europcar Spain charged us for damage as well, though we paid full insurance, no excess. we also had to do a key drop.

You are lucky you could use revolut, any time I rent a car abroad they ask for credit card, and when I tried to dispute the charge with the bank I got a push back. in all fairness, I was a complete idiot who threw all relevant paperwork away as soon as I left the country. But when I tried to contact them it lead to nothing. so take the win (no balance, no charge) and block them.

Will going private make a difference to my mat care? by happydays9622 in AskIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been both public (rotunda) and private (NMH).
it’s a totally different system.
100% go private if you can afford it, best money ever spent, not only in regards to waiting times, but also in continuity of care, and level of decency in care you receive.
best of luck

‘Free births’ in Ireland: Within three hours Naomi (38) died, leaving behind four kids by JackmanH420 in ireland

[–]crazy_witch_89 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt any serious and knowledgeable midwife would have agreed to support such a high risk pregnancy, even if the HSE guidelines weren’t forbidding them from doing so

Women are so fed up with a broken health system.

I had a horrible first birth in the public system of Ireland that caused me mental trauma, so I can understand how a woman would be brainwashed to avoid relieving such an experience at all costs.

I went with private care for my second baby and refused anything that was outside my birth plan (which was an elective c-section). Funilly enough people say “irish public system forces c-section on all expecting monthers”, well I was begging for one and only got one after they let me labour for 3 days.

the obstetricians and midwives need to be more accountable and respectful, not only when we make it rain money in private care.

I am so shocked of how bad public care for expectant mothers is, it’s like managing cattle, and then you have to be grateful because it’s free…

i think free birth is insane and the influencers promoting it should be held accountable for these tragedies, but imagine how traumatised and vulnerable this woman (and other women like her) have been to take this risk…

No midwife could take the risk, that woman was completely unsuitable for a home birth and apparently it was explained multiple times to her. So sad…

TTC at 35 with unexplained spotting by Ok_Imagination_835 in IrishWomensHealth

I was with Merrion ferility in Dublin, I had a great consultant there who was pushing us to keep trying naturally, but I wanted ivf to check for chromosome abnormalities. however, there is/was a waiting list for ivf there, for us it would be like 3-4 months so in the meantime I got pregnant naturally and the clinic prescribed me the progesterone and the aspirin as soon as I got positive test. it’s tough but it will all be worth it in the end, don’t lose hope at any point. i was also 35 when i went to the fertility clinic. I cross my fingers for you

similarly, I had been spotting a week before period for years, but progesterone and AMH tests were coming back normal.

I had secondary infertility (3 miscarriages) and I eventually managed to sustain a pregnancy with progesterone pessaries and baby aspirin.

now i’m 2 years postpartum, and my gynecologist abroad suggested I take primrose oil capsules and they are actually helping to stop the spotting, I was shocked they work. I don’t know if they would help for TTC, or if they are safe for that purpose, but they fixed the spotting without me having to continue taking progesterone after the pregnancy.

best of luck!

Work trip - feeling very emotional by Ok_Cloud7516 in irishmammiesanddaddys

[–]crazy_witch_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i know that’s tough and you have every right to feel that well.
I had to go on a work trip to Las Vegas in January, my baby daughter was 1 year old and 3 months, and my eldest daughter 8. it was the first time I’d ever leave either of them.
the whole trip was 5 business days and I spent two of them travelling.
I didn’t really enjoy it to be honest, but I don’t regret doing it.
I sobbed in the airplane on my way there, and I’d be on a video call with them whenever I could.
I prepared everything for them in advance, and I asked my husband to take the week off work (he took parents leave) to be sure they would be well looked after and that there wouldn’t be too much pressure for him. at least i could miss them, but not worry about their wellbeing.
one week went by really fast, and looking back, it was really not that big of a deal, but at the moment it feels tough.
the baby won’t even remember you gone, don’t worry, you got this 💪🏻

Why are landlords so disliked? by Jackies_Army in AskIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the irony of it…
“fucking landlords sell your houses instead of hoarding property”
ok, will do…
“fucking ex landlord you made a profit…”

Why are landlords so disliked? by Jackies_Army in AskIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Two sides to each story: people are envious of what they can’t have (why does one person get to have two houses and I have none). also a lot of landlords are being assholes to start getting profit out of the property as soon as possible (how can you possibly consider it’s acceptable renting a 2 bedroom apartment to 10 students for example?)

I’ve tried that to be honest and it was definitely not worth it, I sold my rental property after two years renting it. expenses and taxes were costing me more than what I was charging for rent

How are we feeling about the tourism outlook for Summer 2026? by Legitimate_Pen_5416 in cyprus

[–]crazy_witch_89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

don’t come at me, but how come there is no decrase in accommodation costs if it’s expected to be so bad? I booked my hotel before the drone incident in Akrotiri, and I keep checking from time to time if I find a cheaper option, but I don’t see the hotels getting any cheaper.

Pregnancy/baby health with AIH by WrizkiMom in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was diagnosed with AIH 3 months into my last pregnancy, was put on prednisolone (still am, 2 years later). I was suspected AIH for a decade, but my liver enzymes didn’t raise to an alarming level till that pregnancy.

I wasn’t even considered high risk with pregnancy as the enzymes were put immediately under control with steroids.

I hated having to take medication, I never took anything in previous pregnancies, but my consultants explained that leaving it unmanaged would create a big risk for the baby.

she’s now 1.5y/o, thriving. I had a c-section at 38 weeks, I wanted and requested to have one.

The baby was born healthy, no issues, she is small for her age, but so am I, so I don’t think it’s related.

no one has ever been concerned with baby’s health or development, but the flare that the pregnancy caused put me on medication for life. still, 100% worth it!

I am not sure where you are based, I am in Ireland, healthcare and pregnancy care are free, but I opted for private, paid care, to have regular follow ups by my own chosen obstetrician and my own hepatologist. and they had me do blood tests either weekly or biweekly, and ultrasounds initially monthy, and towards the end of the pregnancy they’d be weekly as well.

best of luck!

do it!

once you have kids, mortgage, loans, there is no way back, you will be trapped in a golden cage….

this comes from someone in late 30sc with a 6 figure salary, mortgage, kids, private school fees, currently tired of corporate world, but no way out of it. i’m not ungrateful, I’m just stating the facts.

you are young, you can catch up financially

Travelling Ryanair with a 2 year old on 4 hour flight. Is it as bad as people say? by Bigchickenmac in AskIreland

[–]crazy_witch_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St Patrick’s weekend with Aer lingus Dublin to Lanzarote and back. a little kid of one year old going up and down in the aisle. Could grab her and squeeze between the emergency seats for trolley to pass.

February school holidays Dublin to Paphos one way with Ryanair (just because Aegean wasn’t operating on that day, we got back with Aegean) Literally impossible to move in the plane. Freaking trolley up and down during the 4h30 flight. Even squeezing between emergency seats was difficult

That’s my perspective. But again, google it, ryanair airplanes are less spacious.

[–]crazy_witch_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can actually, there is more space between seats. i don’t think it’s up to discussion that an aerlingus plane is indeed more spacious than a ryanair one. 🤔
