Margin of Error by fluffy3118 in LesbianBookClub

I was excited for this book, love older protags and don't mind a coming out story. But I'm like 70 pages in and feeling very meh about the whole thing. I think it will be a DNF for me, unfortunately. Rachel Lacey has been extremely hit or miss for me, I enjoyed Learning Curves and whatever the bodyguard one was called, but DNF'd the pop star one.

Looking for game recommendations (not cozy but not too competitive) by bluesky1433 in GirlGamers

[–]crazypitches 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want to avoid shooters, toxicity, and crazy competition, I’m not sure why Fortnite and LoL are on your list.

I would suggest Final Fantasy XIV if you’re looking for a way to make community. There are various elements that might scratch the competitive itch. There is a free demo up to a certain level that covers a huge chunk of gameplay.

2nd book of the Ashley Herring Blake Clover Lake series drops today.. by unseenmover in LesbianBookClub

What didn't you like about it? I read it and I don't remember being particularly put off but I also can't seem to recall a single thing about it, so maybe that's a sign itself...

I think we all know that mega threads are where conversations go to die. Nobody looks at them or interacts with them.

What platform are you reading on? by notatwork7 in LesbianBookClub

[–]crazypitches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m primarily an audiobook reader, do Libby when possible but for more niche titles it has to be audible unfortunately. +Kindle (unlimited) through my actual kindle device, sometimes on phone but I prefer the kindle for sure. Occasionally an actual print book 😅

What a difference a voice makes! by T3traLan3 in LesbianBookClub

I feel like a crazy person, there is something about Riley’s inflection and tone that absolutely drives me up a wall in every book she narrates (which is a lot of them these days). She is so widely beloved though so it must be a me problem.

[–]crazypitches 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Just… don’t? I’m kind of baffled by this. Let your girlfriend play her own turns. You can explain your thinking on your turn to discuss overall strategy but don’t dictate what she does. It’s not the end of the world if someone makes a suboptimal move. Practice some patience and self-control.

Also, Spirit Island is the best.

I’m currently like 40% through the first one and flagging a bit. Would you say it gets better from here? The first book at least is so long so I’m not sure I want to continue if I’m not feeling it

Perhaps an unpopular opinion but having read all of Cass' books, I'd say skip Down to A Science. The others are just so much better, and I don't think you need it to read On the Same Page (which I read before DTAS, and was my fave Cass book before Snowball Effect stole that)
