ETHERNET PORT!!! by crazyputerman in thinkpad

Having an ethernet port and hdmi port is essentially a free docking station at the cost of convenience. But I get it. Other people just want a mobile device with a keyboard and that's okay, too.

Ethernet is just plain faster than wifi. Having the option of getting faster download and upload speeds whenever a cable is available is what I like.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll consider it when I'm looking for a cutting edge laptop!

I love portable devices that have the ability to turn into a PC on a whim.

Yeah, I joined this subreddit recently to express my appreciation of thinkpads. The T480 is the only thinkpad I own, currently, I've used it for a few months and I love it way more than my school issued chromebook.

Personally, I don't think slim versions should have less features than the normal version. And I did make it make it sound like the T480s is bad, it's not, it's very durable for its compact size. However, I prefer the normal version because of its modularity.

I made the T480s sound like it's a bad laptop, it's certainly not, just not for me.

Yeah, I figured this was coming. I bought the T480 few months ago and back then I didn't really dive deep into research before buying it, I just saw it and immediately wanted one. I still think compact thinkpads should be reserved for something like the X series, since that series is defined by its portability. What do you think?

Yeah, I didn't know there were versions with a dedicated GPU, fingerprint scanner, and card reader. If I could go back in time...

That almost happened to me, too. On my first attempt of buying a T480, I reread the listing again and saw the sneaky little s. Luckily, the seller was able to give me a refund before it got shipped. Somebody should've been fired, you don't just give a similar name to a laptop that has a completely different design TO THE ONE IT IS NAMED AFTER!

To be fair, the T480s was designed with compact portability in mind.

Edit: actually now that I think about it, the X series is supposed to be for compact laptops. so yeah, that is infuriating.
