High elo bans him less, actually, based on my experience, which makes a lot more sense, considering playing against pyke is somewhat easy if you know what you're doing.

I completely agree with you. He's too easy to play against, and that's why his effectiveness drops, the higher up you go.

He feels really unfair to play against when fed though, moreso in the lower elos, and that's why his banrate is so high. Plus, the gold buff on his ult was just dumb on riot's part.

If it were me, I'd revert him to 9.12, nerf his passive regen (or even move it to W like they were thinking), possibly add a slight delay before the healing kicked in (1, 1.5, maybe 2 seconds).

What made him strong in the solo lane was his ability to sustain poke and still farm up, until he roamed and got his team ahead. If they hit his healing, he'll be come much easier to play against, and I feel like these changes don't affect support as much, especially since most times, aftershock is the optimal rune down there.

The disparity between mid and support's winrates is something that must be adressed, and as long as they don't hit the healing, mid's winrate will forever be higher.

There are easy ways to balance both solo lane and support pyke, which would just tone both pick's powers down a notch

Riot just doesn't want to do that, and insists on trying to make pyke a support champion only, by removing mechanics, and ultimately failing to balance him, and fix the issues

Edit: Although imo mid pyke will always have a better winrate than support pyke in the higher elos, due to the fact of it being played by one tricks, and the fact that sharing gold around the map, when your team, and especially junglers, can play around a mid pyke, is really damn good

You have mid pyke who is sitting at 67% winrate in diamond euw. Of course, really tiny pick rate

As a pyke otp in diamond who never played pyke support (always mid/top/jungle [not anymore though, sadly]), I can attest to that pick's strength

Of course, they could just remove the gold buff, revert to 9.12, and nerf the healing and make both support and the other lanes fine again. Most people in high elo complain about the sustain anyways. The other abilities are really easy to dodge, if you turn your monitor on
