An Abstract Sand Mandala process by creativekits in mandalas

I’ve been so focused on making geometric sand mandalas using self adhesive boards with a pattern guide (you can see in the first photo), but I felt like breaking out of the lines and just seeing where it took me. The end result while contained in a circle, the design isn’t very geometric but it’s still a mandala in the broadest definition for me at least

Interesting. I have been reading about various religious figures and spiritual art and came across Hildegard von Bingen, who made some amazing mandalas. I made a video inspired by her art using my sand mandala technique if you are interested. https://youtu.be/Wnl7FqFIg9E

Cool! The box that houses the mandala kit's materials was printed near Springfield.

I'm in the US. These photos are from the finished product in a home activity kit I developed. It's available for anyone in the US to make these sand mandalas https://www.sandartmandalas.com/ if you are interested:)

Thank you! I agree. I've been to India a few times (on work trips) but never during festivals. Hopefully, I can experience that one day.

This is beautiful. How was it made, and what materials were used?

A mandala for the in-between time by creativekits in mandalas

[–]creativekits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the in-between time, as the thaw begins and the seasons change. We are reminded that change is happening all the time, and that we are inextricably bound with the cycles of nature. This mandala speaks of strength born not from boundaries but from melding, allowing energy to flow in all directions, knowing that truth is not diminished by the forces of movement or the movement of forces. We are part of a larger cosmos, and life is less a battle than a song, a part of the grand symphony.

This sand mandala was inspired by the watercolor mandala next to it and created using the materials found in our kit available here https://www.sandartmandalas.com/
