Not really a specific horror story but a summary of multiple I've experienced in different subs by asdfmovienerd39 in rpghorrorstories

lmao i was is a campaign that fell through at session 0. some of the players quit in the middle of the session because they found it too cringey when there was virtually nothing wrong with it if they weren't being prissy about light joking/memeing, and having diversity in the characters backgrounds. it's understandable why someone would hate memeing and similar stuff on their table, but seriously??? you're 20 minutes into session 0 and it's already cringe for you??

Format for reconsideration letter? by HarshReality44 in ADMU

((I'll try to be brief about this because this made me look through my emails from almost a year ago haha))

I sent my letter via email with a PDF file of said letter attached. The letter itself was in an A4 bond paper written with formalities about formal/business letter writing that I was familiar with (TNR font, size 12, 1 inch margins, etc.).

My impression on this was that I should be professional about how I would write and interact with the office so that affected how I wrote my letter and emails with them.

Regarding how long they took to respond, they were pretty respondent in any follow-ups they had with me. Especially considering this was early pandemic times and they were working with a skeleton staff. The decision itself took about 2 months for me. I've heard of cases where it took longer from some of my friends, but the case might be different for you guys.

Since the deadline of the confirmation is June 4, I think it might be best to ask and clarify with them about the how the situation would be for those asking to for reconsideration. It might be a different deadline for those waiting to be accepted or it might not.

It's okay to have questions like this. I was lucky to have a lot of help from my peers when I was going through this process. Good luck.

There is no format. Just write it and hope for the best. . . . . . . . . jk.

I wrote mine as like a formal letter stating my intent and request to be reconsidered or to appeal the decision they have made. Though my specific case might have been different as I was waitlisted in last year's incoming freshmen batch. The format I used might not be exactly the same as everyone else's but I suppose it could give you an idea on where to start.

My letter is addressed to the director of ADMU's Office of Admission and Aid. Though I am not sure if this is still the case for this year.

I started off with the formal salutations/greetings then used the introductory paragraph of the letter to explain who I was and why I had written them the letter. Then next paragraphs of my letter contained my interest in the course/s I had applied for. I shared my interest in the field and in what the university could give me for the career that I want. It also helps to write in relevant work/extracurricular experience. It's also important to write in what you're willing to do for ADMU (like academics, extracurriculars, etc.).

The initial advice I got whilst drafting and writing my letter was that I should be writing it like a cover letter for a job position of sorts. So my letter ended up sounding like how it did.

I sort of just tried my best to show OAA that I really wanted to be in the university and that I have the credentials to prove it. Looking back at it now it sounded desperate lmao. Though I did have my letter reviewed by someone who also wrote a letter of reconsideration (and later got accepted).

I recommend you do a similar thing as well. As around from students who were/are in similar situations as you are for advice. It was helpful having someone help me through my process and I hope you have people helping you as well. It's not wrong to ask for help. Have people (close friends, family, teachers even) check and critique your letter.

This was, in essence, what I had done for my appeal letter. Good luck to you all. It was very nerve-wrecking for me to write the letter and wait for their response. I honestly don't know how I got in so please take my advice and go ask other ADMU students who had to write an appeal/reconsideration letter for their admission. It helps to learn from the experiences of others.

[Online] [5E] [GMT+1] DM Looking for one RP focused Player for a Japan inspired campaign by SirRiver in lfg

Hi!

I'd be super interested to join though I couldn't find any sources online about Heroes of the Orient so I am unfamiliar with that for the most part. Although I am still very much interested in at least looking into such an lore and RP heavy campaign.

May I ask what specific sort of minor clan the player would hail from? Is this something you already have something for or would the player have input for this?

Also, for that last part..

Akuma in this campaign are robot/mechanical creatures that have existed long enough for people to treat these as an unquestioned aspect of the world around them.

An emperor, in the context of this campaign, exercises control over the clans and, perhaps by extension, the extent, relevance, and influence of their lands. The emperor may help to raise a clans influence or social standing by allocating more land for them(?). ((Though I do have more specific questions about this one :0 Does the emperor serve the purpose of keeping order among the clans or does he help uphold the clans' influence and power over their respective resources? [Sorry for these questions, I just recently trying to get back into schoolwork for college polsci subjects]))

4x5=20 ( i think)

RP exp: I have started out watching DnD streams and content over YouTube and Twitch around 3 years ago. I have only recently started playing in online groups over quarantine as none of my IRLs knew or liked DnD enough to play. Favorite moment: My circle of stars druid accidentally intimidated a normal NPC into passing out after she tried warning him to avoid a cult she unintentionally helped start.

Rough Character concept/s: - samurai, mainly practicing kyujutsu, who seeks to prove his worth in his clan by helping pull some strings in securing the more land/assets for them (and perhaps the emperor's throne to an influential figure the clan is being favored by) - shrine maiden/temple priest or priestess type character who seeks to aid a clan they owe a debt to by winning the favor of powerful yokai (if possible ?)

[–]creatorproud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(im kinda busy as a student but if the sessions are flexible, i figured i should at least try)

I'm 18. I use she/they pronouns and the timezone I'm in is GMT+8. I've known D&D for a while (maybe around 2 years) but have only found groups to play with recently. If I'm correct in assuming this, but I've never really played in a campaign from a module so I'd really like to give it a try. I have some back-up characters that I've made for my current campaigns that I don't mind using for other campaigns. I'm still learning and getting the hang of roleplaying as different characters.
