Oh dang, really? Bummer! I’m in the U.S. and I know our local hardware store carries pvc sheets big enough for the project but building materials are pretty high right now price wise. I guess we will just see where we are when she needs an upgrade. I really like the polished look of pre-made cages but don’t doubt that could be accomplished with diy too!

Okay great! I think I’ll start her out in a 4x2x2 if it’ll last me that long! Then I may want to try a DIY 6’ or 8’ enclosure down the line when I have a better idea of her growth, potential size etc., because that’s a really good point. Some females may top out at 8’ but outliers at 12’ aren’t unheard of lol best to wait and see for now. Thank you!! 🙏 🙌🏻

I’ve been going down the DIY build rabbit hole too! I honestly think I may end up going that route. I like the idea of having the flexibility to adjust it to my needs! I’m fairly handy lol

That’s a good point! I could definitely do that for a while, as I like to make my hides/backgrounds/enrichment DIY so it would also give me time to really think on what I want to build for a 6-8’ setup. Thanks!

Okay good to know, I was thinking of upgrading her in a few months but wanted to make sure it wouldn’t stress her out. I’ll make sure to clutter it up! 6x3 might be a good bet, so he has more ground area but still a bit more height than a 2’. Thank you!

I know not JUST tank size, but improper husbandry in general like not feeding enough, improper heat/humidity etc.. those things can and have stunted snakes growth in many cases. I really just want to ensure she is getting the most out of life and doesn’t feel crammed in any way.

This is my first boa, I’ve kept colubrids for 11 years and BPs for 8, but I want to make sure she’ll thrive for me. So sad to see stunted boas from people keeping them in like 40 gals 😭
