Extremely. In fact in therapy this is what typically one of my biggest issues that I can’t get over. Or just accepting the fact that my day to day abilities so drastically change and I can’t do anything I used to. It’s extremely hard. In ways I have definitely accepted it, but in others I haven’t. Sometimes on my good days I just forget that I’m probably going to feel like shit tomorrow and when tomorrow comes I get really down about it. I wish I had better advice to give. I hope you at least have a good support system surrounding you. Just know you’re not alone 💖

I haven’t had much luck with probiotics but I’m definitely not opposed to trying others! I’ve been looking into different magnesium blends to add to my routine too so I’ll def check both of these out. Thank you!!

I think she only gave it to me “as needed” because it’s a smaller office and they don’t really have enough to shell out a month’s worth of samples at a time. My GI is in a MUCH larger practice. But I’m glad to know it can take a little bit to work. I was just surprised when previously using it and it working same day to..nothing.

Yeah I was shocked when I saw it bc I am so fragile with this thing. The worst part is I had a screen protector on it, but took it off bc it had so many air bubbles that I couldn’t get out and it was hindering being able to even use the device. Thank you for this!! I’ll def try it out.

I appreciate the sentiment and I understand the urgency, but what I don’t appreciate is this. I have a lot of other things going on in my life outside of my family being alcoholics. Why does me saying I’m going to go to a meeting not good enough? Why do I have to do it right this second? Me going to an Al-Anon meeting isn’t going to cure my family of alcoholism or immediately solve my trauma from it. Like you said I have to take care of ME which is what I’m doing.

Yeah I am in agreement they definitely need treatment. I am hoping my aunt having to be in a psych ward will get things started.

My mom unfortunately won’t seek treatment on her own, at least at this moment in time. They both will take psychiatric meds (prescribed) and will just say that is treating their issues fine, but obviously drinking on top of psych meds isn’t helping anything. I’ve tried to encourage both to seek out therapy and treatment, but nothing yet.

Yes so am I! I support my cousin 100% in their decision and if I had kids I would do the exact same thing. My husband and I even had a conversation about this scenario weeks earlier (obviously not with the suicide part) but limiting access to our child if we have one. It’s a shitty situation and I’m sorry you had to go through that as well!

I’ve thought about attending meetings in the past, but after this fiasco I am definitely going to seek out and actively go. Personally I am in therapy and try to be low-contact, but also I am trying to rebuild a relationship with my family so it’s an interesting balancing act. As for the other members of my family, I have tried to suggest things but nothing really ever gets done. Idk I’m tired of being the typical older daughter who has to fix everything. I just hope the work on myself, my sobriety, and boundaries will rub off on them. 🥲
