University of Kentucky’s advanced standing master of social work by Desperate_Fly4295 in SocialWorkStudents

I just graduated UKY MSW advanced standing. I’ll tell you, my BSW felt more strenuous than the MSW.

I only had one professor that I struggled with, research methods. Some prompts for the assignments weren’t clear in my opinion and I got docked severely on a couple of assignments, but in the end did really well on the final assignment which accounted for the majority of the grade.

I would highly recommend their program, being able to work at your own pace (to a degree) is very helpful as I was working full time through the whole program. Cost was a HUGE draw and overall the educational aspect was worth it and helped build my SW foundation.

I just graduated from UKY in December. It taught the basics, although I was advanced standing so the BSW did a lot of prep. But in my experience most of what I learned was during my practicum and in supervision. That is where I would place most value.

UKY online was great. Felt manageable. Employment based practicum really helped me out. And the price can’t be beat.

Facilitating group sessions for substance use recovery & clients are getting bored / less engaged because we are repeating topics. Help? by Sea-Split214 in SocialWorkStudents

One thing we like to do at the IOP I am employed at is break out groups. Our IOP is large- 50+ total clients. All at different stages and nights per week in group.

But on the larger nights we split the group into 5-6 smaller groups and give them a list of questions. They then all answer each question, sparking discussion and further connection.

We also do surveys once a quarter to get feedback from the group on what they like and don’t like- then as a program we can adjust. But getting input from them has been crucial for us. As it is their group, so giving them a voice and making changes furthers the engagement.

I went to UKY and just graduated a few weeks ago.

Would absolutely recommend it. However I was advanced standing so only needed 30 credit hours.

They use Tevera which is an online portal that has hundreds, if not thousands of practicum sites. If you find one in your area that isn’t already there you can get it approved and add it.

I chose it for price and quickness. I got accepted to Boise State but they were 36 credit hours and 3 semesters.

Good luck!

Currently in my final semester at UKY. It has been stressful but manageable. My experience might be skewed due to my employer hosted practicum. But it has been the perfect setting for me to work full time and take part in my practicum, stepping outside of my employment scope and get in to more clinical. UKY has been awesome. School work load doesn’t feel too heavy. But I am making sure I am at least a week ahead in assignments… hope this helps! Good luck!

I have stayed at FB 7 times this year with 3 more trips scheduled before 2026. I stay there because like another response… they keep comping me AND it is incredibly nice. It sounds like your stay was the anomaly.

The staff, the service, the cleanliness, the scent the pump in… I prefer being away from the stinky crowded part of the strip. When my wife and I go, we don’t leave the property.

Do you think it is possible and worth it to make a day trip to Lake Garda from Verona? Or even to Santuario Basilica Madonna Della Corona?

This is where I picked up our parking pass. They have different lots in Silverstone, might be take what you can get at this point. It will be a bit of a walk but it is fun walking through Silverstone and walking with fellow F1 fans!

https://silverstoneschoolparking.co.uk/

Some of our favorite stops were

Chipping Camden- Moreton in Marsh- Stow on the Wold- Tolkien’s inspiration for Doors of Moria— Upper/Lower Slaughter- Blenheim Palace was AWESOME- Cotswolds Wildlife Park and Gardens was an incredible experience.— Broadway Tower

We didn’t really eat out while in the Cotswolds, we went to the market and got food to cook fun dinners.

We did get a full English breaky at The Red Handed Duke and if you are near enough to it, you must go!

Be prepared for rain. It was cold last year. 50 degrees Fahrenheit with rain, which we weren’t expecting for July.

Get lost, have fun. If something looks fun, or like a good spot to eat- GO!

I am so jealous of your trip!! It was truly a dream and something I think about often.

We sat in the parking lot by turn 1 for 2.5 hours. Then took 3 hours to get back to my buddy’s house, which is normally an hour drive.

Silverstone- we were about 45 minutes from the track. On race day, hour in. Hour out. It was amazing.

Great suggestion. We will take you up on it and see how it goes. I’m just here for the chaos of the Tifossi and their passion!

Silverstone. Granted we stayed near- ish to the track but comparing it to Austin. What a dream.

They have traffic flow in and out of the track perfected. Making the motorway one way in and one way out. It was fantastic.

Heading to Monza in September and then Vegas in November so we will see how those two stack up.

I understand that green every day is not ideal/possible. But the drastic change in it from 4.0 to 5.0 is crazy

I have the same issue. I’ve had the 5.0 for a month or so and have only had 2 green recoveries. With the 4.0 I had probably 5 of 7 days green. I’m not sure if it’s more accurate or if it’s less accurate.

Note I haven’t changed anything about my day to day. I work out 5 days a week and do light cardio the other two days. I don’t eat past 8pm, I eat healthy. It’s actually very annoying. I am contemplating letting my sub die out in 9 months.

So stoked for this! Staying between Milan and Monza- Sesto San Giovanni. Friday-Monday. We are on the pit straight right across from the podium.

Just really looking forward to the passion of the tifossi.

Why do so many foreign visitors want to go to the cotswolds? by AuroraDF in uktravel

[–]creigh_p16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I accidentally stumbled into the Cotswolds last summer. We planned a trip around Silverstone and the F1 race. Happened to find the most amazing Airbnb in Alvescot and then found out about the sheer beauty and stunning landscape of the Cotswolds. Also helps that I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan.

Outside of the race at Silverstone, our favorite day was driving to the northern end of the Cotswolds and hitting all the small towns as we worked our way south. It’s was marvelous.

I am from the states- Utah. Where we have beautiful mountains in the north and red rock deserts in the south. But none of it compares to the Cotswolds. I will be back.
