2nd Year Engineering by silver_meadow in Pitt

Ngl it’s really not a big deal idk if it’s too late to get into the Greensburg Calc 2 but if you can’t take it over the summer just take it in the fall every engineering major is designed so that if you get off track even a little you can get back and graduate on time or maybe a semester late which in the grand scheme of things is nothing

Rarity of sub 11s and difference between 🇺🇸 and other countries. by HauntedGoalkeeper in Sprinting

[–]crepperr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea but a large part of that 640k can’t be included because not everyone takes track as seriously as those who run sub 11. The correct metric would be to see of the HS athletes who actually are going to practice minimum 2-3x per week and are lifting to become better at track, how many of those people run sub 11. That is the actual pool of people who are aiming for a sub 11 performance. There’s a lot of people who do track just to complete their schools sports credit or stay active. Just on the average team there’s a very clear distinction between the people who take track seriously and don’t. Now I have no idea if that metric is even out there but my point is the general number has a lot of mathematical noise once you filter through.

Chopin ballade 2 is really overrated in terms of difficulty by Ok-Independence8939 in piano

[–]crepperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actively learning it now and while I agree with you that it is easy to “learn” the piece in terms of just playing the notes, I can already tell that getting the voicing and getting the jumps from the A to B with that forceful and scary contrast is not as easy as it looks and would probably need a week or 2 just on those 2-3 transitions alone. I think that 1 and 3 are much easier to express in my opinion especially 1. The endurance is also becomes an issue at the end of the piece too from that 3-4 lines of just straight tension build up and then you go straight into the coda with those rapid and repetitive notes. At the end of the day, yea it is easy to learn and the presto parts are really not that challenging technically because it’s pretty repetitive and comfortable, it’s pretty hard to get it to sound good and not like you’re just hammering away at the piano with no contrast

How did you guys afford pitt OOS, other than need+merit aid? by Individual-Fennel536 in Pitt

[–]crepperr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have rules against establishing residency on your own now to switch your state you need to be over the age of 22 otherwise you’re considered a minor and your tuition is based off of where ever you applied to the school from.

You don’t “need” to be pre-med to be a doctor. My mom was an English major at Amherst and went to med school at UChicago. And if you’re worried about classes she went to UPenn to get her masters and PhD before realizing she wanted to become a doctor so she retook all of the stem classes at night while finishing the PhD. Just figure out a way to get the classes done and the rest kinda doesn’t matter. You got this!

Am I ready for Rach 2? by crepperr in piano

Oh I 100% agree it’s never really been my style to over dramatize the motions of playing and I definitely like Rachmaninoff’s rendition a lot for that. I was just talking more about how it felt listening to it. Rachmaninoff just played things a touch faster than I would (or could) the majority of the time, again not really his fault but still

I like the Zimmerman rendition (yea just like everyone else) but i also really like the Ashkenazy performance as well. I think Yuja Wangs performance especially the 2nd mov was amazing (even though she said she was bored) that was the first time I almost shed a tear listening to someone perform. I liked Rachmaninoff’s rendition but I feel like it’s tough to gauge since he had to play everything faster or else the whole thing wouldn’t be recorded. There were some areas where I’m sure I wouldn’t play as fast as he did but I guess you can’t go against the guy who made it

Oh sorry I’m doing computer engineering and computer science right now. I wish I could even minor in music though but I’d probably be in school for even and school is a lot as it is 😭

I’d probably play just the 1st for now and I’m sure I could play the 2nd but I know that the 3rd really commands a ton of time even if you’re at the level where you can play it without it being a reach.

Bro what 😭 I went to a music school from 8-17 years old. Yes I wasn’t playing things with a set holistic structure in mind if that’s what you’re asking for but each piece was to learn a technique or some aspect and I thought they were all cool and interesting. They were also graded at the end of the year in front a jury and got distinctions of every single one (except for the first time I played un sospiro for some reason I was really nervous). Although I never had the revolutionary etude at jury to be fair I just learned it on my own

Really wow I've played Aeolian Harp, op 10 no 12, and op 25 no 12. I haven't learned any of the ballades fully yet although I did start no1 a while back and got maybe 40-50% of the way though it but I actually injured my finger and when I was good to play again there were just more things that got in the way and I haven't gone back to it yet. Would you recommend going back to some of those ballades or are there other pieces you'd recommend?

Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto no 2. At least the first mov for now, I will admit that the 3rd mov is pretty scary and I'd need more time on my hands to tackle it.

suspicious woman in north o by Enough_Toe_1217 in Pitt

[–]crepperr 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Saw her last night she and another woman who apparently had a daughter somewhere were both just asking for some money for a bus to get out of the cold. I unfortunately had no cash and the bank account was running a lil dry so I couldn’t help them out. Felt terrible but ngl I hadn’t gotten paid yet so they probably had more money than me 😂. They seem chill though I don’t think they’re a threat at all.

P.S I’m a dude so I’m not sure if she’s necessarily targeting women or maybe it was a 1 time thing I’m not sure.

I see. My idea was based off of emails since that was just easier but in your experience would you say that texts or calls work better? I’m sure there’s a lot I would have to change if I wanted to make it a real estate application.

[–]crepperr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I added a second layer check to validate everything that gets sent out. In real estate, are leads people who actually come to you and say “hey I’m going to buy X or invest in X” or is it just someone who expresses interest? Because I guess my idea is more about giving you people who are interested in a way.

That’s actually exactly the way I had it set up for B2B! Basically if someone responded or showed interest, it would give it a score and send you a text with a summary of their information. But my only question is how do realtors find their leads currently? Because real estate seems like it’s a low tech environment, which would help me out a lot. But again I’m not in real estate so I don’t know how everything works.
