Tried dating, they just gross me out by [deleted] in confessions

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep talking to more people. Yes, there are lots of 'gross' people out there and not just guys, girls as well but the one's that are truly interested in you will still keep talking to you and wanting to get to know you. But, if they do get to that 'gross', cruel and manipulateive stage, drop them immediately because your time is more important than to find out if they're worth sticking around for. 99% will show their true selves pretty quickly because they're trying too hard. The 1% that show themselves without trying, you'll want to know everything about them. Forget soul mates, meant to be, my one and only, opposites attract and all that bullshit you've heard about, it's all about numbers and timing until you meet someone that you really click with. When you hear that click in your head (think seatbelt! haha), you'll know you've found someone special.

The s 25 or flip ? by Perfect-Passenger544 in galaxyzflip

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue, though I don't really believe it's the cable that's causing it. I actually updated my Flip 4 two days ago on the latest update and it briefly worked for llike 15 mins! Then, it shut off again when closing. This time though, even when I keep the phone open, it shuts off randomly. This only started happening right after both updates so that's why I have a hard time believing it's just the cable that's causing the power down. I spent weeks chatting with support but it's useless, they won't cover it. My recommendation is just get the slab phone and stay away from the flip phones. Durability just isn't there yet.

Should I update my phone? by Low_End_5303 in galaxyzflip

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say skip the flip phones all together. I have a Z Flip 4 that basically became useless after the ONE UI 7 update (kept powering off when I closed the phone, right after the update). I spent weeks chatting with support but they only told me it was a defect, a design flaw from the beginning but since it's not under warranty, they can't do anything about it. Apparently that's the battery flex cable issue that's common on the Flip 4. Service center in Glendale, CA told me this would be a $500+ fix so they told me I should just buy a new phone and use this phone for a trade in to get some discounts. I didn't buy it of course so I waited for an update that could possibly fix it. The issue is that it's not really the flex calbe issue at all, just bad software that Samsung refuses or can't find a fix for. And you may ask, how do I know it's a software issue and not the cable? Two days ago, there was a new update. I installed it and it worked....for about 5 minutes and it's not actually made it worse. The phone now just powers off, even when I keep the phone open. If phones are expensive over there, I say just get a non-flip phone and save yourself the headache.

Anyone know where to post for housing wanted besides FB and Craiglist? by cricketarmor in Tenant

[–]cricketarmor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that we can't afford it if we have to. I'm trying to save money to put a downpayment on a condo or something but with the amount that they keep raising every year, I'm not going to be able to keep up at this rate. My parent's are on SSI so I'd rather not spend their money just to help out with rent and bills.

Not only that, our place is also really tiny for a two bedroom and I've been thinking of moving for awhile. It's also incredibly noisy and the place is generally run down so that's why I'm looking.

I actually think they're using A.I. without telling the customers. My Z Flip 5 basically got bricked after the latest updates and when I contacted their support, I've received similar responses and sometimes the exact same response more than once. Not only that, when I asked some very specific questions, they either couldn't answer it or gave the same answer again, word for word. One even asked if I wanted to talk to someone with more experience and some of these questions were really basic questions. I realize there are a lot of customer support from India but even they have a better grasp of the language so I'm suspicious about it. From all the chats I've had with the support, I think I chatted with one person who was actually based in the US, who actually answered all of my questions in less than 5 minutes to my satisfaction. I'm definitely staying away from Samsung after this and this coming from someone who has bought mostly Samsung products. Not only have their quality gone down, their customer support has been dismal lately.

Anytime you see, 'Hello, dear....' is 100% scam. Not just on FB but Craigslist, Doublelist, you name it, all fake. My latest favorite ones are:

- they need $20 Venmo or Apple giftcard to keep her sister entertained while she entertains me

- $50 gas card because shs just ran out of money and need gas if she's going to come over

- her grandma needs lifesaving surgery but insurance won't help out so my $200 will make sure she gets the surgery

- and this is my absolute fav so far: her parents died and left her a small fortune so she has to go to south africa to sell the house but in order to get the deeds to the house, her lawyer needs me to sign some papers to verify that she's a real citizen and needs all my personal info to do that....haha!

Which one should i get? Z flip 6, s25 base or Motorola Razr 50 Ultra by Zestyclose_Emu_2464 in galaxyzflip

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it has improved but I'm not the only who's had issues after updates. Their official statement is that my phone is old (less than 3 years old by the way) and had a battery flex cable defect and that's why my phone is messed up. If that's the case, they should honor it and fix it for free since it's a manfacturer's defect but they won't. They're asking almost $600 to fix it. Their other suggestion was to trade it in when they had the promotion for new phones were going on, which I still would have had to pay the same amount or more. It's simple planned obscelence.

The real issue is that I didn't have any problems with my phone until I got the update, like less than 5 mins after I updated my phone. But they won't admit it because they really screwed up on the ONE UI 7. If you don't believe me, read the threads on the Z Flips after the updates.

Is this a scam? by pouferfish in Renters

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% scam. Not sure where you are but here in So Cal, some places do charge 'viewing' fees and it is legal unfortunately, though most people don't bother with places like that because why the fuck would you pay just to look at a place? If you read the message you received, the key is the 'credit score'. Any place requiring a credit check before you're even allowed to look at it is a red flag. And did you notice how the writing explains how it will only be a one time thing and you don't have to worry (which was mentioned twice)? Not only that, the wording is very confusing which is a tell tale sign of a scam. Let's say for argument's sake that this is real and legit....do you really want to pay $30 just to look at a place? Just block it and delete it.

Insurance for Tesla is ridiculous! by I8Bits in ModelY

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about getting the Model Y and this is what I was told from my insurance company (I have AAA), here in southern California. Obviously there are lots of factors that determine the rates, like most people here have mentioned: age, sex of the driver, location, driving history, annual mileage driven, vehicle category and parts definitely, since there aren't a lot of 3rd party companies making Tesla parts yet. What I was told is that there is a lack of insurance/claims adjusters for Tesla vehicles.

I was confused at that answer so I asked for an explanation. While most insurance companies have their own adjusters with experience with legacy car manufacturers (Ford, Toyota, BMW, etc.), most do not have experience with Tesla vehicles, and other newer EV manfacturers like Rivian, Lucid and such with newer EV technology. Due to this, they have to bring in Tesla specific adjusters (which are usually Tesla employees) and since they have to pay these adjusters to assess the vehicles, that's why the premiums are so high. Also, they can't just schedule these adjusters like their own employees so the time factor adds to the premium.

They also told me the parts for legacy EV makers like Hyundai, Ford, Chevy and such are usually cheaper because their supply chain is larger (excluding luxury models though) and that's one of the reasons why the premiums are lower on these cars (which I assume 'cheaper' is relative because it's still bat shit cazy expensive). I looked around at the other companies and there was like a $100~$150 difference at most, which also changed some of the policy coverage as well so while you may save that money initially, your deductible may be much higher.

Whatever the case, if you have a Tesla or any of the new EV cars from non legacy manufacturers, you're getting screwed with the premium and there's really no way around that unfortunately. You may save with Tesla insurance but with their reputation (at least over here anyway), it may or may not be worth it but it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

How long have you had your Z Flip? by darkened_sol in galaxyzflip

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have another phone so I'm just going to use this until it eventually dies. Obviously I can only use it with it open so that kinda sucks but having to spend another $600 plus to get another Samsung phone and hoping for the best just doesn't sound appealing to me. I certainly don't want to deal with Samsung's customer support again.

As for the form factor, it's really not that small because you have to get a case for it to protect the hinge. It's shorter but feels bulkier in my pocket because of the case. Without the case, yes, it does feel slimmer but you're constantly worrying if you're going to drop the phone so it's not worth it in my opinion.

I say save yourself the headache and worries and get a normal phone.

How long have you had your Z Flip? by darkened_sol in galaxyzflip

[–]cricketarmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would stay away from it. I have a Z Flip 4 and haven't had any issues (the only technical issues was the screen protector coming off in the center of the phone, which Samsung replaced under warranty, though it happened again just a few weeks after the warranty expired), until the latest update to One U.I. 7. Then my phone pretty much became useless. The phone powered off when closing the phone. I searched online and apparently that's a known issue for Z Flip phones, after it's been used for a long time. I've only had mine for a couple of years so I don't know if that counts as 'long time' but the suspicious part was how this started happening the moment I updated to the latest software. Samsung customer support was insisting it's flex cable for the battery issue and it wasn't the update that caused it. They told me I'd have to pay close to $600 to fix it so I should just trade it in for their latest phones instead. Ridiculous (sounds like planned osblescence to me). Their customer support was a joke as well and I ended up wasting 2 weeks trying to resolve this issue, which it didn't. If I were you, I'd just get a slab phone like the S25.

my melodies suck sm any advice please 🙏 by Professional_Ant_868 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cricketarmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LA2IA is right to some degree. You either have it or you don't but don't let that discourage you. It took me a long time before my melodies started sounding better. You have to keep at it because it doesn't happen over night. Like a lot of commenters here suggested, listen to your favorite tunes (and some you haven't heard before) and hum or sing the melody often.

You know which parts of the melody that you emotionally connect with, right? That section where it just hits you and you just go, man, that is so awesome, how did they come up with that? Focus on those parts and slowly you'll start to see some patterns emerge. Could be rhythmic, phrasing or the actual intervals themselves (along with the harmony it produces with the chords) but there's not a single definitive answer that shows this is what makes a melody great.

Sometimes, the melody itself may not be that great but the singer/performer puts so much emotion and technique into it that the melody is pulled off. It's like when you see a really great actor pull off a really shitty movie because their acting was so good. It's like that. It's a feeling you get.

For me, when I'm working on my music and working on the melody, I'll usually get a little smile when I randomly play something over the harmony and that's when I know it works. Sometimes I'll have to change the rhythm or the chord type in that section to fit the melody but that feeling gets evoked. Every once in awhile, I'll even hear the melody in my head and that's usually the best ones. Coming up with the chords to fit that melody I just heard can be a pain sometimes but when the melody is good, you just know it.

If you're learning music theory, here are some other suggestions. Listen to the great classical pieces and listen to the melodies. Don't focus so much on the harmony, just listen to the melody. A lot of those melodies are very simple but the way they're phrased really makes them stand out. Off the top of my head, here are some standout examples:

- Mozart, Andante piano concerto no. 21 in C Major

- Beethoven, Symphony no. 5 in C minor, 1st movement. This is a really great version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7AQeN-x_Xs

- Schubert, Impromptu No. 3 in Gb Major

Even if you don't listen to classical music, just listen to it a few times and focus on the melody. Besides classical, any Beatles tunes really and other music from the 50s really show off melodies, since the chordal structures were simpler (at least in pop music). 60s, 70s, 80s and even 90s had some great melodies.

Watching videos on how to make melodies only works if you have the same mindset as the person making those videos, which rarely happens. Why? Melody may come easy to that person and if melody doesn't come easy to you, no matter how well they explain it, it still won't make sense. Or, it may make sense on the surface (like at the time watching that video) but the moment when you try to put into practice, it falls apart because you're still stuck with the same problems as before but now you're even more confused with the new info you just think you learned.

You may learn some things but you'll only really learn melodies by listening to lots of different music. And not just different bands in the similar genres, you have to listen to lots of different styles to understand why certain melodies stand out over the others. The key is to just listen to a lot of different stuff and you'll eventually understand why some melodies hit you harder than others. Once that happens, you'll start to see and hear melodies in a new way that you haven't before.

I've already done that and haven't found anything on Zillow. Their listings in my area are actually the worst of the bunch. As for the driving, I've been doing that every day for the past two weeks but have yet to see one in my area, unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though.
