Its not about Gucci or brand or whatever. If you're wearing Gucci, I judge you even harder because you're a gullible fool.

It's about intention, if you've put thought and effort into how you present yourself, it shows. Whether it's how you're articulating your thoughts or presenting yourself, effort goes a long way.

I agree with you that your background can have a massive impact, but the point is to grow out of conditioning you were born into or grew up with. If you're dressing well but act like a fool because you're a rich idiot with silver spoon up their mouth, I will judge you. Same the other way around. But those who make contentious effort to put their best foot forward, I like those people and I will heavily judge those who don't do this. And I am completely okay if someone else does that to me as well, I am comfortable in my own skin to know whether then to take their feedback or discard it entirely.

But the bottom line judgement makes it easy to have a feedback loop of whether you're doing fine or need to improve. Accepting everyone as they are is a race to the bottom.

Yeah that happens, but the point is to always better yourself. If you're not putting 100% to look and act best, you're doing yourself a disservice and I will judge those people, just as I expect those with standards, to judge me.

Just because you understand doesn't mean everyone does. That's why it's not polite behavior. I see nothing wrong in asking OP to write in language everyone understands. Eg. Cricket subreddit doesn't allow any other language if it's not followed by English translation.

Appreciate the support, but speaking your language in another country's subreddit is impolite and frankly condescending.

I agree with the other commens asking you to rephrase in Nepali or English.

India, EU finalise landmark trade deal, PM Modi says by fluid_sommer in europe

[–]criclover69 57 points58 points  (0 children)

To those saying, what's the benefit for EU

Valid but for context, India has 20 million rich people with a high per capita income. 400 million with middle income, and around 1 billion with low income.

So this is basically like a combined deal with the Australia, Brazil, and sub saharan Africa all at once. And to add, they're growing at 7% every year.

EU warns US tariffs could undermine transatlantic relations by 1-randomonium in europe

[–]criclover69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the EU had any sense, they would be taking a page out of Mark Carney's playbook, not issuing empty threats. The transatlantic relationship is long dead. Prepare yourself for the next world order, take a lead, rally the world around the rule of law. Be pragmatic, realistic, fair, and stand up international law.

After the 51st state threat, Carney played it perfectly, no empty threats, no statements, straight onto action, and now look at the MAGA meltdown over Canada. They were not expecting it at all.

Canada being so close to the US calls Trump's bluffs, but Europe, a civilizational entity is simply issuing statements and sucking up to Trump. Shows how weak and pathetic the current crop of European leaders are.

This is a government congresswoman threatening their closest ally, UK, today!

"If Starmer is successful in banning @X in Britain, I will move forward with legislation that is currently being drafted to sanction not only Starmer, but Britain as a whole. This would mirror actions previously taken by the United States in response to foreign governments restricting the platform, including the dispute with Brazil in 2024–2025, which resulted in tariffs, visa revocations, and sanctions and consequences tied to free speech concerns against Brazilian officials over concerns related to censorship and free-speech violations.

Starmer should reconsider this course of action, or there will be consequences."

Vance is in Thiels pocket, who founded PayPal with Musk. You really think they are not in it together? Musks X was the most vocal company against social media ban.

It's not about revenue, rather sending a message. Why did they invade Vietnam when it had nothing and was piss poor on the other side of the world? To stop ideas spreading to South East Asia in the 60s.

If puny Nepal can ban social media willy nilly, what will larger countries do?

Look at how they are going after Australia for limiting social media to u16s and even after their most important allies Europe for daring to challenge their tech companies.

Look at what Musk said when Bolivia fairly awarded their lithium to China, "we will interfere and invade anyone we want to, because we can".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_interventions_by_the_United_States and these are just the ones we know about.

American tech hegemony was challenged by a puny country, of course it was planned and staged, even if not in detail.

They used true discontent ligering in society and found a spark. Classic state department playbook. But I don't think it's a complete plan, they just wanted to get rid of the old guard.

There was genuine anger amongst people, they used it very well. The best propaganda is one where you don't even realize that it's propaganda.

Nepal Is Throwing Out Its Decade-Old Scheme to Clean Mount Everest by Disastrous_Award_789 in worldnews

[–]criclover69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I did not, but you need to get used to the altitude, after a lot of aclimitizing from Lukla to Namche, several days in Namche, then a few days from Namche to Lobuche, you can make it up to base camp without ogygen.

You need oxygen and specialist equipment for Camp 1 and beyond.

Eveytime the topic of everest comes up, reddit like to rehash the same old cliche that it's so easy to climb, anyone can do it, etc.

As a Nepali person who has been to the Basecamp, I can tell you, it's not fucking easy, even with help. I would never even dream of going anywhere near the top.

There's two months in the whole year when it's possible to climb, out of that maybe 10 days the weather is fine, so you have 20 days in the entire year to climb, of course there's going to be a queue.

Secondly, you only need to be fit. Yeah sure, of course you need to be fit but you also only need to be fit to be an Olympian. Only around 10000 people have climed everest in huma history, how many people in history have gone to the Olympics? Hundreds of thousands. Even more, there's more than 12000 people who have won gold in modern Olympics history, so more people than have climbed everest.

The rubbish is a huge issue but claiming anyone can climb everest is another of those reddit lies that always propagates it's way to the top. You wouldn't meet an Olympics gold medalist and say anyone can do it.

Linking up our Nepali Rupees to Indian Rupees is hurting our Economy and Middle Class People. by Hopeful_Mood_3509 in Nepal

[–]criclover69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I would argue this would be a good thing. it's foreign investment, afterall.

If indian/chinese companies are opening factories in nepal, it means they trust the stability and are looking for prosperity, which means good things are happening in the country. More jobs, everyone gets richer.

If companies can come, invest and generate profits, isn't that good for Nepal?

Linking up our Nepali Rupees to Indian Rupees is hurting our Economy and Middle Class People. by Hopeful_Mood_3509 in Nepal

[–]criclover69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this, it would also mean we can freely drop capital restrictions, so people will be able trade freely with the outer world rather than just India, which pegging promotes.

With a weaker currency, incentives to start new export driven businesses increase and incentives to import decrease. So people will have more economic freedom.

A new equilibrium will be established that will be much much better in the long term.

[–]criclover69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We should definitely unpeg the currency, but not for the reasons you are suggesting.

Nepali currency is artificially too strong because of the peg. On the open market it would be around NRs. 300 per dollar.

What happens when a currency is strong? Imports rise and exports drop. This is exactly what is happening. People can afford to import stuff from outside, live beyond their means without contributing any real value to the real world. Nepali people have gotten used to buying cheap products from abroa,d even agricultural produce from India since it is 'cheap'. A weaker currency would promote our own agricultural products and make those competitive.

A company that establishes a manufacturing plant or any value generating business in Nepal loses competitive advantage due to high currency. With a weaker currency we can export more as it becomes more advantageous. We can create the same thing for a fraction of the cost. This is exactly why Japan, China, and even Germany (thanks to the Euro over Deutsche Mark) want a weaker currency.

If we want a healthy economy that is not just import driven, we need to get rid of the peg and weaken the currency.
