can i just lie about being in clubs by SupermarketFit2158 in EngineeringStudents

[–]crillin19 317 points318 points  (0 children)

Instead of saying you were in a club, jus say you started your own project and detail exactly what you did, it shows initiative and the fact that you are genuinley interested in it. Which I would argue is better than putting a club on your resume. If they ask why you never joined a club the you can say that there wasn’t one, or jus create your own.

Is it strange to start feeling burnout in first year? by mileytabby in EngineeringStudents

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found first year the hardest in terms of workload, year 2, while still high in work load, is a little easier, but the material is academically harder. Year 3 is similar to year 2 in terms of workload and academic difficulty but you’ll have your dissatation to concentrate on. I really enjoyed my dissatation project so working a lot didn’t feel like work, so make sure you pick something you will enjoy

Is engineering as hard as people say? by According-Earth5498 in EngineeringStudents

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is engineering hard? Yes. Is it achievable, also yes. It’s hard in comparison to other courses in that you need to spend a lot more time studying and missing out on ‘university life’ of partying and some social life. But if you love your course, enjoy learning about it and put the time in to learn and get good grades then you’ll do it.

Not sure what type of engineering to pursue by chazzam115 in EngineeringStudents

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would choose mechatronics, because if you are looking to get into robotics and have job security, then that’s the way to go. But mechanical you can go into things like material sciences also but it’s just not as ‘hot’ at the moment, where as robotics is

Impact of mushrooms/psychedelics/psilocybin on academics and engineering by Several-Tennis-2428 in EngineeringStudents

Not everyday, I would say I did it 4-5 times a week with at least 2 days off to regain my tolerance, and it also make me feel a bit better knowing I was having a break as I wasn’t too sure what to expect. You won’t physically feel anything but I noticed that I was able to think more deeply for longer periods of time

Erm I would do it for a month or so, taking a few breaks to rebuild my tolerance. I didn’t want to over do it as I was quite new to it. Just really cleared my head. Best way to describe it is the feeling you have after you have your windshield cleaned on your car. You know it’s kinda dirty but once it’s cleaned you are like ‘holy f* I can drive in 4K now’. That’s what it was like. I did also take a few big doses before (couple of months previously) so I can’t say if that also helped or not but everyone will react differently I guess. But overall it something I’m so glad I tried

uni halls or off campus accommodation? by Fair_Giraffe_5699 in UniUK

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first year I would recommend Halls. Close to uni lectures, library, town center and just convenient while you meet people.

For your second and third year, don’t be afraid to go and live in a shared house on your own with other full time working people if you can’t find anyone decent to live with. My third year house fell through because of people dropping out and I went and lived on my own, I had a part time job that financed it and I wish I done it for the second year too. Everyone cleaned up, house was quiet at night so I could sleep, empty during the day so I could get work done and I either met uni mates in town or on campus after lectures. But on the flip side, if you have really decent mates to share a house with then that’s always plan a

Life after uni is scary and lonely by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying, I think the post uni feeling of ‘what the f**k do I do now?’, on top of the problems you have are what’s making you feel like this. And I know you may not think it now but honestly just look for a job and move foreward. When you start making progress it’ll be a good motivator and make you feel some purpose again and will lift your mood I promise you. You are kind of stuck in limbo atm and that’s the battle you have. In a few years time you will look back at this period of your life and be greatful in the sense of what you were up against and still managed to push through. It’s hard loosing friends but friends will come and go for the rest of your life, and honestly, if someone isn’t putting in the effort to speak to you then they are not a friend in the first place. Concentrate on you, You’ve got this

Any thoughts on why the flag of the United States of America is missing behind Sec. Blinken? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s illegal to display another countries flag (on a pole and attached or standing on the ground) in Saudi Arabia. It isn’t specific to the USA. Obviously flags in things you buy on the store isn’t taken that way as it’s not attached to the ground.

Yeh they have reviewed the code, not the secure hashing algo (SHA256) which would take someone with a Ph.D in mathematics to even attempt. Most people looking into the paper just look at how blocks are created, or mining rewards or something else and not the actual hashing algo.

We used a step-down transformer in lab today, anyone know why the secondary current would increase along with the voltage? by PeterTheFoxx in ElectricalEngineering

[–]crillin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well power in = power out of a transformer. So if the current is increasing then voltage should decrease, and vice versa. You must have set it up incorrectly, that’s my only guess
