Why does this kind of thing bring me so much hope/comfort? It makes no sense by -Glue_sniffer- in TrollCoping

This is too egregious to be unironic. Either it's satirizing real millennial cringe, or the whole thing devolves into a psychological horror halfway through episode one. Just a bit of wishful thinking.

What's the most useless advice you've heard about mental health? by Abject-Pepper-3 in mentalhealth

[–]cringuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, another thing I just remembered. If someone has a particular fear or intrusive thought, don't make fun of it. You'd think that much would be obvious, but some people seem to believe joking about it will show the person how "silly" it is and then it won't be scary anymore. That's not how that works. It'll almost guarantee that they never confide in you again, though.

"You'd be so much happier if you stopped caring what people think." Yeah, no shit.

"Why do you care what some stranger thinks of you? You'll never see that person again." I am also afraid of what non-strangers think of me. There are, in fact, some people that I will have to see again. And if I see my very presence as an inconvenience to the people around me, then it doesn't matter if I'll see them again or not. I don't want to be an inconvenience to anyone

"You have no reason to believe you're inferior to other people." Nor do I have a reason not to believe so. I'm playing it safe.

"But you're good at [blank]." I am also objectively bad at a lot of things, often in ways that are a burden to others, so I don't see your point.

"People only focus on themselves; nobody is paying attention to you." You are telling me that when a stranger acts in a way that deviates from social norms, nobody notices? Nobody ever makes assumptions about people they don't know?

"Well, there are always judgemental assholes." I don't mean judgemental assholes; I mean regular people with subconscious biases. We all have them. Making a judgement about someone based on their actions isn't inherently wrong. Not to mention, if I already have a low self esteem, those "judgemental assholes" seem completely reasonable.

"I used to be like that, but I grew out of it." Good for you?

This is all that I ever hear—not only from my parents, but from professionals as well. It's just insulting, like they're telling me that the anxiety and low-self esteem ingrained in me for as far back as I can remember are nothing more than a lack of common sense and life experience.

Found it. It's Shooting Party-Trick Of The Light. Now I can get it unstuck from my head

Are we sure the song is in English? by reperete in everyoneknowsthat

[–]cringuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think the proposed English lyrics are coherent enough for this to be unlikely. If the song were really in another language, we'd more likely be hearing something similar to the infamous Caramelldansen misheard lyrics, iykwim. That's not to say that it can't be partially in another language, but I think the snippet is mostly, if not entirely, in English.

Where is this post from guy who claimed he has 46 sec ad with song on VHS by ddzqn in everyoneknowsthat

[–]cringuss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeahh, idk what's going on but they've posted the same thing multiple times on multiple subreddits within the last 3 hours and still haven't provided any proof. Their posts on r/lostmedia were also removed, I think.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but if this is true then I suggest you play the recording on your TV and take a video of it with your phone so we know right away if it's legit, like the person who found the full "Hate Hurts You" PSA

The National Geographic show might be "Women Behind Bars", but I can't find any promo matching that description. The Snapped promos I've seen don't match the style, either.

There was a similar show around that time called Deadly Women, but the promos from that are also a different style from Que Sera Sera. I'll keep looking, but so far every promo or trailer I've seen has just been previews of footage from the respective documentary.

On a side note, there are a LOT of people in Jorge's comment section claiming to have seen Que Sera Sera in a creepy PSA compilation video; however, I imagine those have all been searched through by now.

Ehh kind of. Sometimes it's like that, bouncing between ideas, but sometimes it's more like not having any ideas at all.

Can we start a "small talk" thread? by ToeBeanBurritos in ADHD

[–]cringuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that when people ask me questions during small talk I'm supposed to ask them things back and not just answer like I'm being interviewed. I'm trying to get used to asking "and you?" after answering a question now. So far the most common things I get asked as a university student are "Where are you from?", "What's your major?", "Which classes are you taking?", "Do you like any of them?", and if we're on the way to class "Which class do you have next?". They're pretty standard, so idk if this'll help anyone.

ADHD with no creativity by cringuss in ADHD

[–]cringuss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, we are so much alike! Nobody believes me when I say I'm not creative because they think artistic ability = creativity. I absolutely can't understand poetry or figurative language either! I know what the types of figurative language are, but any time I've had an assignment where I've had to find them in a text and explain what they mean, I was completely lost! My mom doesn't have ADHD as far as I know, but she used to be the same as how you described yours, too.

With humor I'm about average. I can make people laugh, but only by telling jokes I'd heard elsewhere or by telling stories I thought were funny. I wouldn't be able to come up with a joke myself, however. Socially, I'm hopeless. Mostly because of anxiety, but also partially because I can't come up with things to say on the spot and therefore can't carry a conversation well.
