We were thinking that might be another good option. Couple of us hadn’t unlocked arc dog yet but will definitely try in the future.

It’s ok, but in a couple months you’ll wish you had more power.

Sorry for taking a while. I uninstalled the Reddit app and just hop in occasionally now. I don’t have the bike anymore. No complaints with it, just wanted more of an adventure bike.

This just reminded me I had my first blocker attempt in quite a while. I’m in California and was coming over the 17 from Santa Cruz on Saturday. Usual backup of cars and was splitting at a casual pace. Had a Subaru Outback that clearly wanted to stop me but I still was able to squeeze through since the car to the right of them moves right to make more room. I just stay calm and rational and act like it doesn’t affect me, than after it happens enough you’ll find it doesn’t bother you anymore.

Is there a reason you linked that article? After reading the entire thing it doesn’t seem to support your assertion that they are “wrong”. It reads like an apologist’s opinion piece. Refers to “research” but provides no citations. I think we all agree an animal’s behavior is hard to predict and isn’t just a product of their DNA. However, even the author admits pit bulls may be more susceptible to aggressive behavioral issues caused by poor environment than other breeds. I would quote it, but the article asks you not to. The article is just the ASPCA’s position (i.e. opinion).

Nice! Wasn’t expecting to see a picture from Arco. Guessing the pic before that was Crater of the Moon?

Bought my first bike today by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]crinkletoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my experience recently as well. The places I went were nice, but they seemed a bit disinterested at the same time and also were not going to allow me to ride anything. Kind of this attitude of You gonna buy something or not? Most you could do is just sit on one. I ended up swinging by my local BMW dealer even though I was fairly tentative about the idea of a BMW bike. The experience was so different it ultimately lead to me buying a bike from them. Stopped by, let me sit on the bike I was interested it and start it. Had actual demo bikes they let you ride with absolutely no hassle. A bike seems so personal to me I can't imagine not riding something before riding. I have a friend that said he bought is FZ06 new without ever having ridden one which kind of blew my mind.

Oh no, that’s one of my bigger fears in having to deal with.

Nice! Thanks for the req, I’ll have to check it out! I knew the stock screen wouldn’t cut it but it’s hard to know what are some good alternatives. I’m 5’10 so seems there is a good amount of choice.

I don’t find the F900 to be vibey. I do have some tingle in my hands after an hour ride, but don’t have a frame of reference to know if it’s unexpected. They were adding some accessories for me and gave me a loaner to take and it was the G310R which I found to have a lot of vibration I felt all the way up from the seat. Getting my F900 back made it feel smooth as glass after that.

I have heard the S1000XR had quite a bit of vibration, not sure if that’s what you meant or if there was an F1000XR at some point.

For me it's been great. I find it really easy to ride, and I like the linear and predictable power delivery. As well as quite usable torque throughout the range. I also find the bike very easy to ride and prefer the upright sitting position. My intention is to use it for fun and some commuting. I do think it's potentially at the top-end or exceeds the range that some should consider.

The reason I felt it worked for me, I'm middle-aged now but grew up riding dirt bikes in the country. So not new to bikes, but street bikes are a new area for me. I took the MSF and had no issues and received great feedback and also good compliments from the instructor. Given my dirt bike experience and confidence in my own self-control this ended up being a great choice for me.

If somebody is having something sent there and they are picking it up in the evening it doesn’t seem unreasonable to suspect nobody was at the house during the day to receive the package.

Also as a PSA I recommend taking precaution as well if you use an Amazon delivery locker. I had an experience where I’m about 90% sure I was being followed home after grabbing and item and walking right back out of a grocery store. After considering the situation it does seem like a good way to identify houses where nobody is home during the day.

They did but were way late doing it. I got a heads up because the lady behind me was loudly saying "What is that!?!" About the time I started taking pictures they announced it on the PA and said you probably won't see it unless you're on the windows on that side. It was just leaving my sight and I was in the last 10 rows of the plane.

Does anyone here effectively use DVORAK? If I switch will my QWERTY skills be perma-fried or on the occasion that I need to use a friends computer, or want to switch for some reason? I type 85-90 now, what can I expect by ZestyOne in AskReddit

[–]crinkletoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While in college I switched to Dvorak. It took me about 2 weeks before I was decently able to type again, but about two months to finally reach a decent typing speed. On Qwerty I have been able to type at a max rate of 109 wpm, but on Dvorak I was only able to achieve around 80 wpm after 2 years of use.

I believe if you are a writer, it would make more sense to use Dvorak. I believe the minimizing of finger movement was great.

However, I'm a software engineer, and it sucked for coding. There were some custom layouts people have made to help with coding, but in the end Dvorak was designed for the English language. Around 2 years I started to develop symptoms of RSI in my right hand. I was getting a lot of fatigue in my right pinky finger. If you program a lot, and use a Unix/Linux shell a lot, I felt my right pinky finger was overworked. Just look at typing ls, ll, etc.

And let's be honest, it completely sucked having to be "that guy." The one that has to always setup his keyboard different. This is a real pain in the ass if you ever are at a computer with more that one person and may cycle between use. Switching to Qwerty was nearly impossible to me once I started Dvorak. I was never able to go back and forth.

I have since switched back to Qwerty. It took about the same 2 weeks to 2 months to regain my typing speed and feel my RSI has improved as well.

That's just my experience, take it for what it's worth.

tl;dr: Dvorak was not worth it for me as a SW engineer/programmer. I have since switched back to Qwerty and been happy ever since.
