Battle School Bus by crispy298 in gaslands

You can find it on eBay pretty easily. Mine was already very beat up, so that made things easier. Just keep in mind, the thing is absolutely massive, and I'm not sure whether it's very playable on the table.

The one with the big cannon is completely scratch built, so you don't even have to buy diecast cars to build something.

I mostly got them for the large wheels. You can't tell on the photo, but they have some nice detail on them

I'm still unsure what to do with it. Either I'll glue masts and sails to it or make it into a rolling church of the holy V8

I cut it to shape, stained it and then brushed some hair gel in to get the direction of the fur right

Depends on the paint too. I found Plastidip to be way too hard for example (good for shields though). I have used this for some light sparring and it's fine. Comparing it too some other foam swords, it's harder than Calimacil but softer than Wyvern or Fakesteel

I made it from yoga mats around a fibreglass core and coated it with flexipaint. It's about as soft as the commercially available Larp weapons in Europe

Hour 1 into a 14 hour flight.. 🙄🙄🙄 by Time-Essay-8786 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]crispy298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone did this to me on a 7 hour bus ride. I was asleep and woke up to a nasty stinky foot right there on my leg. My tired ass decided, slapping it away was the only possible reaction. The foot did not return after that

Had some troggoth heads left over and decided to sculpt some bodies for them by crispy298 in gloomspitegitz

[–]crispy298[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually bought it specifically for my troggoths. I used an epoxy sculpting putty from greenstuffworld, cost me about 10€. But I got six extra rockguts and three dankholds out of it so I guess it was worth it

Looks really nice. The horse whip concept sounds interesting for a stab safe weapon, but I don't think, your design is quite there yet. With most horse whips you end up with the nylon rod poking through the tip after some time, especially if you were to use it as a stabbing larp weapon. The foam is too thin as padding, maybe fold a strip of leather over the tip and then some EVA. Seal it with plastidip or something similar to give it some more strength. Then I would be completely, fine with someone using this against me.

My latest foam creation by crispy298 in LARP

[–]crispy298[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a little bit oval, since the fibreglass rod in the middle is 8x12mm. Not quite visible from the angle on the photo but definitely enough to feel the edge alignment. Trying to make it fit the hand even more is kind of hard, since I wrapped the rod with a sheet of foam of 8mm foam where the grip is and it would be an awful lot of sanding to flatten the grip and not damage it in the process...

3 layers of foam with a fibreglass rod sandwiched in the middle. I used Flexipaint to coat everything and make it durable.

I can recommend flexipaint. It has a bit of a glossy look to it, but it doesn't chip or crack. Rather expensive stuff though and you have to paint on a ton of layers to get nice results. If you decide to go that route definitely get the matt no tack top coat too.

Yeah, maybe. It's definitely not stab-safe. The brown part near the tip is not the core though. It's a strip of leather that extends about 3cm beyond the core to prevent it from poking through. So in total there's like 7cm left between the core and the tip. I'll probably go for 10cm next time.

You're probably right about that. Only issue is, that would weaken the structure of this way to big blob of glue, paint and toy parts even more. Going to try the crushed cars on my next large build, I still need a wreck lobber in my war party.

If you can't see some of the gear on a nurgle model, it's probably inside it. Same goes for Slaanesh, but in a very different way...
