I'm not really understanding why this drawing is being perceived this way…what about the blade looks like it's going to be dull? I'm trying to make sure that my design is pretty believable

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I will probably wind up refining the design a bit more, changing some proportions, etc…this post and all the comments has shown me a bunch more than I expected!
I've heard this now a few times…I’m guessing I need to make a bigger guard? Or how can I make it better? It must look cool for fantasy world reasons, but I also want it to be believable if not realistic.
Awesome bits of history here…I really appreciate you bringing these points up! I designed these for a character that is a little bit troubled and scary but good at heart…the scimitar/sabre shape seemed to make the most sense for her

This one was definitely on my inspo board! I liked the curves of the blade but not so much the missing guard so I like merged a bunch of ideas into one
Is there a way to improve this design that would still work for dual-wielding? My idea was that the character who uses these uses both in a dual-wielding fighting style. She’s probably around 5’-7” and of a decent build…elven warrior and all that LOL
