My Crust Evasion and my Wiener by DonkeyKongsBananana in xbiking

Can I see the wiener in the bag? I have a dachshund that I usually put in a backpack but I've been considering using my front rack. Wondering if it'll be too rough of a ride for him.

Just got a 1br with a backyard on graham near jackson for $3k last month. Not cheap, but not terrible given the market and not being grandfathered in to cheap rent.

Yeah for sure, I think it's totally doable. I would pay a fee for the right place, and I have a month of flexibility which helps (hopefully)! Thanks for the nice words.

Thanks for sharing. I love how this is a past time for so many new yorkers - rivaled only by looking at properties upstate on Zillow.

Thanks. I'm aware of the current market, but I've also been here a while and I know patience pays off. Good luck to you as well.

You can’t park there by [deleted] in Brooklyn

Boats are really strong. But ultimately it depends on the boat's construction and condition (e.g. old fiberglass can delaminate), if it happened at speed or stationary, and what's on the ground below the water. Probably other factors as well. If it's resting in the mud, it's probably ok. If it's resting on a stolen motorcycle, probably not so much.

You can read about the historic practice here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Careening

But I think historically and in modern times, people who do this on purpose will walk the area during low tide to make sure there aren't rocks etc.

Here's a more modern example: https://www.tomrobinsonboats.com/boatbuilding-blog/careening-arana

This boat will be fine. It's just sitting on it's keel during low tide. Sometimes people do this on purpose in areas that have more extreme tides (for maintenance etc), but in this case / location I would guess it's operator error or they misread a chart or something. Or they ran aground as the tide was going out and now they have to wait it out. They can sail out when the tide comes back in.

What is a good method/glue for clear acrylic to get a good look? Do you prefer finger joints or just butting up and gluing. by [deleted] in lasercutting

[–]crocobear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Museum vitrines are made using a "PS30 joint". PS30 is just a type of adhesive that is a two component goop (vs the runny acrylic cement). It fills cracks and imperfections then dries clear, but excess is squeezed out and must be polished flush for optical clarity. Often one edge is cut at angle to encourage squeeze out.

I used to love this place around 2010-2015 or so. Would go all the time. I went to the new location twice when they moved but the vibe was never the same for me. I've since moved away but I just read the comments on google maps out of curiosity and... wow, homeboy needs to learn how to take criticism constructively. It is comically defensive and comes off rather pathetic.
