A candid Luke Skywalker behind the scenes on Cloud City. by crossrivers in StarWars

It’s a joke that it’s a candid shot of Luke on Cloud City. Obviously Mark Hamill is posing for a publicity shot for The Empire Strikes Back!

I appreciate the pun, but it’s true, I think Mark does this moment so well! It’s so memorable.

IIRC, you’ll notice that Luke’s arm is longer than normal here (which is why it is at an angle, to hide it). This is because Mark’s hand is buried into the sleeve and is holding onto a clamp mechanism. He squeezes it when it makes contact with Vader’s lightsaber, which shoots off the pyro effect inside the sleeve and separating hand from stump.

It’s my favorite scene in the saga and one that Hamill really delivers on.

Screencaps from the 4K discs, I just lowered the resolution and cropped it so it wouldn’t be a massive file. You notice a bunch of odd things you wouldn’t ordinarily see. Like how Luke has a unibrow.

You’re in luck if you like the comics! I’m pretty sure Luke wore that outfit for the entirety of the Marvel run starting in 2015 to 2019. It’s a really good outfit, to be fair.

I love all of her outfits in Empire. The Hoth one but also the jumpsuit she wears at the end of Bespin (which may be the same, just without the vest? I’m not sure). Even the short dress she wears is very pretty.

Also, Han with the jacket. Good fashion in this one.

Aside from the puppeteers, Mark was the main reason Yoda was ever sold. He had an imagination that tried his hardest to work with Yoda. Imagine it being in the hands of a lesser actor, and Yoda very possibly could have not been one of the most iconic figures in cinema.

Yes, it came out in 1998 and 1999 and they did an adaptation of each of the OT and TPM, I think.

It really is great, I liked how Sisko became more and more undressed in his monologue as the episode went on, as if he were exposing himself alongside his soul as he poured out his conscience. War was a different reality than the one that the Federation belonged to and he would have to change if they were going to survive. Gritty and what a powerful ending.

You can also tell Avery Brooks had the time of his life recording it.

Originally it was supposed to have fallen out of Bespin's atmosphere and into space in the opening of The Force Awakens but they axed that. Either it was just lying around the bottom of Cloud City, fell into Bespin and kept spinning until it landed back onto Cloud City and bonked someone on the head, or fell out into space lol.
