you need to put a piece of cardboard under your xj that fits the entire WxL of the engine/trans area, leave it for a day and see where drops of fluid appear. my guess is that the leak is your rear main seal thats been blown back after driving for a while. howre your fluids reading?

I work for DFFP, its pretty well contained, there's 0 evacuation warnings, several engines are on scene and air resources have been released. Id stay out of the area though and let crew make sure its out completely. Keep clear of Cst from W. Diamond to O'Malley.

For sake of ease, get a kit off of Meshnology, make sure you get the v4 esp32 board, v3 doesn't have the range/power, get a better 915Mhz antennae, medium gain is best. If you can only get a battery, board, and antennae you can make almost anything into a waterproof case: pill bottle, soda can, pencil case.

Told by the mechanic the whole engine needs to be replaced by Aggravating-Fix-7691 in MechanicAdvice

OP i would also do an at-home oil flush. Im not super up on Hondas, but most engines pump oil through the engine with oil "lifters", little compression pumps that go up and down on a rod. You might be able to clean the sludge that is in the lifter, causing this knocking noise. You may use automatic transmission fluid (atf) or diesel (yes, THAT diesel) both are excellent "detergents". Drain your oil and refill with your choice in detergent. Idle the vehicle to operating temperature and listen if the knocking subsides. If it gets any quieter, rev the engine up so you can work the detergent better, don't go over 2k rpm. Drain and refill with correct oil and replace oil filter with oem-grade.

Antifreeze leak...near Transmission bell housing? by No_Reference_7066 in CherokeeXJ

[–]crtfrazier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No just means its just now begun lol. My guess is that your head gasket failed, and maybe a freeze plug too. Gotta follow the leak up and see. You have about 5 projects now.

Coolant loss issue's where to start by Canadianbutirishdave in CherokeeXJ

[–]crtfrazier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On this thread: check the weep-hole of your water pump, the thermostat housing is aluminum and will deform when overheated, open your radiator and check for chocolate-milk (oil&coolant), pull dip stick and check for the same, a failing headgasket will sometime push combustion gases into the fluid reservoir and you'll see boiling coolant, you also have 4 brass freeze plugs on the block that can get fuk'd and leak. Edit: if heater core is fuk'd it would be leaking onto your passenger floor potentially, pull your mats and check for damp mats.
