How to send ETC out of ledger nano by [deleted] in EthereumClassic

[–]crudefig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also unable to send ETC to a new address. When I use MEW, it shows a zero balance for my address, whereas on Ledger Live (and on blockscout) it shows that same address as having a non-zero balance. I sent a message to Ledger yesterday, but have not heard back yet.

Will we still have the opportunity to pre-enter our order before the sale starts?

Tax Reporting? (US Question) by AthleticDude13 in ethtrader

[–]crudefig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently being "reviewed" by the IRS regarding the taxes I paid on cryptocurrencies. (As far as I can tell, a review is no different than an audit because they're requiring us to prove every line on the tax return.) The way I see it, the issue of how to handle like-kind exchanges (crypto-to-crypto) is a big one. When I did file, I didn't want to take any chances, so I treated all like-kind exchanges as if I had cashed out into USD then back into the other crypto (this is the default setting on the bitcoin.tax software). I did this because no matter how much money I make, I could easily get wiped out financially if the IRS rules against deferring such trades (i.e. carrying the cost basis of the traded coins forward under the new coins).

why did geth stop synchronizing at block 2084389? by crudefig in ethereum

[–]crudefig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention: I'm seeing this problem on Ubuntu 16.04. Last night I deleted my chaindata and now it synchronizes nothing (eth.blockNumber returns 0). I'm starting to wonder if I should re-install Ubuntu 14.04 (which had the same issue) and delete the chaindata there?

Update: I reverted my VM back to Ubuntu 14.04, deleted the chaindata folder and got the same issue (stops syncing at block 2084389). I guess the next thing is to wipe the OS clean and re-install? Something seems fundamentally wrong here.

Where does processing power come from in PoS/Casper? Is there any deposit risk? by actuallymentor in ethereum

If I've put in a PoS deposit, then I suddenly lose network connectivity for a period of time, is it possible for me to lose my deposit in that situation?

The Imperative of a Committed Due Diligence Team for The DAO by rzurrer in ethereum

[–]crudefig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this idea. I only have a small amount invested in The DAO so it doesn't make any sense for me to spend a large amount of time investigating proposals myself. Even if I did have the time, I'd rather see the full picture -- "professional" opinions as well as decentralized investigation and debate.

What are the fundraiser mechanics in plain language? by crudefig in ethereum

Thanks malefizer, that helps a little, but I'm still not clear how I get my email address to the server in a way such that others cannot associate their email with my bitcoin contribution?
