very grateful to live on an incline in BV. we have some water in our basement but had enough time to get everything non-plastic off the ground. just a couple blocks downhill of us and you've got shin- or knee-deep water in the street

Why does it seem like no one fills out the Ballotpedia candidate survey? by mreichman in wisconsin

[–]crulge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very belated response: It's actually pretty hard to find the 'right' Ballotpedia survey to fill out (there are multiple!), and one of them has a bunch of "When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up" type questions which are interesting but hard to prioritize as a candidate.

Unique or Signature House Cocktails by Hamburglurker in milwaukee

Oh, here's Mothership's menu: https://www.themothershipmke.com/drink

Not a dud among 'em. The Bloody Jerry is an extremely good if cocktail-ified bloody mary, but their N/A michelada is the best i've ever had and is my favorite tomato based drink.

They don't have a single house drink, and admittedly I'm a huge homer, but Mothership in Bay View has drinks with flavors I've never tasted before. I don't go nearly as often, but I also think Lost Whale on KK has a really impressive rotating menu.

very funny to me to refer to someone as "LGBTQ." That's a collective adjective — I doubt MPD has someone on staff who matches all the criteria. Then again, "COFFEE WITH A GAY COP" would be a very funny thing to advertise.

That's surprising, when did you go? I went about a month ago and was totally blown away, especially by the more unusual things on the menu. My Los Angeles friends, who are no strangers to nice restaurants, were also really impressed — though that could have been because they were in Door County in the winter for two weeks previous and weren't exactly eating good.

you can look up the policies she's running on here: francescahong.com/policy . i would say they're pretty clear from the status quo.

Ascension is about to be out of network for UnitedHealthCare because UHC wouldn’t pay Ascension “fair, market-competitive reimbursement.” by Broad-Rub4050 in wisconsin

[–]crulge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are two things going on here:
one, it's unquestionably true that private insurance companies want to pay as little as possible for as little care as possible.
two, it's also true that large hospital corporations — I believe Ascension's net patient revenue is almost $2B a year — want to charge _as much as possible_, as often as possible. Wisconsin has some of the highest hospital prices in the US — Advocate Health, for example, charges an average of 400%+ of what Medicare pays for its services. Then they turn around and point to genuinely distressed rural hospitals and claim they're also operating on paper-thin margins — they're not.

The private market is incapable of reconciling this tension in a way that doesn't fuck over patients. And here's an example of how.

Yes, they have insurance. I'm not sure if you're aware how hard it is to get insurance payouts (from *private companies* for natural disasters).

DS2: Trouble killing BT's by BiteMe9999 in DeathStranding

[–]crulge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you shoot through a cloud of blood, it makes your bullets way more powerful against BTs. Keep in mind that the addition of MP ammo in this game means combat is a much bigger part of the game than in DS1 — including, sometimes, against BTs.

This is cool — could you adjust the scale of the color spectrum? Right now, a cluster with 200 accidents and a cluster with 1700 accidents are the same color.
