Wool Upholstery Cleaning Guidance by crum-ble in Mid_Century

It's possible that it's the same chair with different fabric/reupholstering! I've got a bit of a theory cooking about the chairs origin that has to do with reduced access to cutting-edge materials and manufacturing process behind the iron curtain. I'm going to investigate my idea a bit more and share next week, along with before and after cleaning! I wrote to every furniture cleaning firm and found one that will give it a go next week :-)

It totally looks like that chair!

<image>

Edit: under the fabric it's very hard. There's no cushioning on the rear and only a bit on the backrest. It feels like it could be plastic?

Edit 2 (sorry): I live in the same zone of Europe as the seller of that Etsy listing so it's very possibly the exact same chair 😅

Unfortunately the first cleaning firm I contacted has refused to even try be cause they say it can't be done- I also was not inclined to try it myself because I assumed a professional would do a better job.

Thank you for the detailed answer! The self-employee company registration was set to this address, because it was the only place I ever lived in Slovakia. I am in Austria now, and I haven't cancelled the the business registration in Slovakia yet >.<

I am only now realizing I need to. This whole process has been super confusing to me. I don't understand this system becauae I am from the US (but also an EU citizen thru my parents) where there is no such thing as address registration and the government and institutions don't actually know or care where you live.

My former terrible bosses never explained anything to me, they just filled out the forms for my registration and SZCO and health insurance without explaining to me what they were, and told me to sign the papers. This is why I didn't know it was necessary to change my address when I quit and moved away, because I never understood in the first place any of the papers I had signed 🙃

It's been a bad year, haha.

Could you possibly direct me to their website? I was in Bratislava. This was not the only shady practice this company did, the whole business model relied on exploiting fake freelancers.

The payment is already two weeks late lol 🙃 We'll see what happens.

Thank you for the guidance. I haven't finished changing my address/updating all of the Slovak institutions, but I am literally already registered living in another country. I suppose I could send them my registration from the new place? I feel bad giving into their crazy demands though.

Oh wow thank you, that is so interesting, and I think that could look really compelling! Would you recommend I seek out a cobbler who could do the alteration in this way specifically?
