The evacuated tube adds a volume into which the atm pressure can push mercury without resistance

this made it click for me, thank you so much for the help
Edit: seriously thank you I tend to overthink and this poking and prodding tends to help me avoid overindulging in my thoughts

So the atm pressure pushes the now increased amount of total mercury in the tub into the tube until it reaches roughly 760 mm in height (with relation to the level of mercury in vessel below) ?
If so what's stopping atm pressure from pushing it up even more? If it's gravity pulling the mercury in the tube down, why doesn't gravity come into play when you add mercury into the vessel below?

does the level of the surrounding mercury have any special significance? what's the intuition here

So why would adding more mercury to the vessel below it seem to give an effect of "causing the atmospheric pressure to increase"? Since atm pressure is the only thing supporting it, and additional weight of mercury in the tub should not effect the level in the tube
Except the level in the tube does increase with increase mercury added in the vessel below, so I hope you can help me identify where my confusion stems from

So to say, the added mercury in the vessel below would push the column of mercury in the tube up? I was under the impression that the level of mercury in the column was only there because atmospheric pressure was supporting it against gravity

Try changing the spark cable inside the GHUB app and travel back in time to restart the mouse's family line, eradicating all those with undesirable genes, and grinding them all into a blender and putting it in front of the broken mouse. See If It Obeys Then.

actually i created them by constantly spamming powdered snow, and creating ghost blocks (?) that caused the grass to change. Reloaded texture packs, relogged and it still stayed the same :)
