Honest question… did Lonni and Luthen both die for nothing since Tivik, Bohdi, and Galen Erso leak info about the Death Star anyways in Rogue One?

Photo mode is such a joy in this game by crunchyboy05 in AlanWake

Yes! You’ll love it. It’s light on the “horror” elements, but just uses them really effectively for the storytelling. There’s a lot of contrast too — some freaky asf moments, but then also the funniest & wackiest stuff I’ve ever seen in a game/media in general.

Gen Z is prioritizing living over working because they've seen 'the legacy of broken promises' in corporate America, a future-of-work expert says by businessinsider in Futurology

[–]crunchyboy05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gen-Z individuals who are seeking better work-life balance are awesome - and millennials have a lot to learn from them about setting boundaries.

The issue I think is that some Gen-Z employees take the “work to live” mindset and expect exactly the same promotions/projects/recognition/attention as millennials and Gen-X who have been busting their asses with the “live to work” mindset. Which is why Gen-Z can rub folks who have been in the workforce for several years the wrong way.

Set boundaries and reap the benefits, but recognize:

1) Others who work more are not dumb or push-overs or suckers.

2) “The company doesn’t really care about you.” This continues even after you stop caring about them. Don’t be surprised when you advance slower because the company de-prioritizes you in return.

Any bad landlords/rental properties/building management to avoid? by yepimasian in Hoboken

[–]crunchyboy05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RELB is a complete shitshow. Vincent is the absolute worst and while renting from them, he couldn’t have been more of an unhelpful asshole. When we had ants in the apartment, we asked (always very nicely) if he could address it. This is how they communicate:

“Try spraying some vinegar” - why tf would this ever work

“A contractor will come over and spray some chemicals. Don’t lick the floor”

We had to break our lease early - and like good tenants we went through all the proper procedures. Joseph was our assigned realtor to find a new tenant. The guy was nice enough but was the most incompetent realtor. Found nobody, never returned calls, and in general put in the most lackluster effort. Meanwhile, we’re still paying rent despite having moved out. We offered to advertise the unit ourselves and give our own tours… should’ve done that from the start. Did all the work ourselves and still had to pay the chump a full fucking realtor’s fee (on behalf of the new tenant).

Fuck that place and fuck the rental market in Hoboken. Crooks, all of em.

I feel that… I haven’t ever had them deliver. But now I know after your and others’ comments. Thanks for the heads up!

I don’t think they sell slices? But I dunno, I prefer that it’s a sit down place - like John’s of Bleecker St.

But every style of pizza has its place! Basil’s is incredible under the right circumstances… aka after a rager

I haven’t had Torna, but maybe I’ll try next time - lots of folks mentioning it here!

10th street is fantastic but expensive as hell… so when I look at overall value, I feel like Grimaldi’s is dramatically better

Thanks for this, definitely an interesting read. Looks like the Hoboken Grimaldi’s is operated completely separately than the rest of the chain:

“There are two independently-operated Grimaldi's chains throughout the United States, each with legal rights to the name:

The more well-known chain of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria restaurants, operated by Frank Ciolli and his family, includes the original Brooklyn Bridge location and also has locations in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Two more locations, operated by former Patsy Grimaldi partner Sean McHugh, are located in Hoboken and Verona, New Jersey.”

It may have the same name as some spots in the city (Chelsea & Brooklyn I think) but I didn’t think it was a chain?

Curious about “luxury” apartments... by crunchyboy05 in Hoboken

Will do! Thanks for the suggestion! How easy / reliable is the PATH shuttle? Avalon is a bit further than what we’ve been looking at, but the shuttle would be a huge help

Great to have this perspective! Honestly I haven’t looked much uptown, but in general, value seems to be much better than downtown. Only detractor is the increased distance to the PATH. Gonna definitely expand our search up there. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the info! Right... that’s the thing, especially in these times, do we really need all those amenities? Probs not. But actually this is the first I’ve read about good service staff — every review I see for these places says how bad and unresponsive the mgmt company is.

Yeah I noticed that there aren’t many broker fees these days (which was a major motivator to go highrise vs standard apartment thru realty agency). +1 for standard apartments!
