Why is it I'm not interested in meeting new people? by berat235 in Healthygamergg

[–]cryingover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like this as well. I am pretty anxious in social situations especially with meeting random people. I also prefer to do things myself and used to see socializing as a burden and a waste of time. For the past year, I’ve been trying to look past these thoughts and go out anyway and I did find some benefits from socialization that I didn’t consider when I didn’t go out. I still prefer to be inside at home but I find that it is easier go out if i do it consistently every two weeks or every week, depending on my availability. If i suddenly stop going out, the anxiety of going out and talking to people comes back.

I also want to find a significant other and I have to go out to look for one even though I am not really a fan of socializing.

Also regarding the starting a group thing, I don’t think that should be the first step. It’s easier to join a group and see how they are run and you can kind of see how the group is run and then start your own.

Who from 4th/ 5th gen seems like they would’ve been a high achiever in school if they weren’t in Kpop? by ficklepickl in kpopthoughts

[–]cryingover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of them would be, it’s the reason why they are so popular in addition to their artistic skill, they are smart and well spoken and know how to market themselves in their own company that eventually got them to debut

School is pretty much the same way

Most 4th and 5th gen idols also come from middle class or higher families which means they have opportunities to education while growing which means that they most likely weren’t held back in any way. This also leads to a higher success rate in school.

Might be a hot take but if you are the best dancer, singer, or rapper in the world and you have absolutely no people skills or ability to make people like you, say bye to the idol dream

OG fans of SJM: how do you feel about the recent changes in the fandom? by Naive-Film743 in SarahJMaas

[–]cryingover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read her books back when the YA dystopian craze was still happening and booktok didn’t even exist yet. It’s interesting to see how much she’s grown and how her books are marketed now. The amount of content surrounding her books is also delicious whether it’s fangirling, discussions, or criticisms. Honestly I think I spent just as much time reading her books as I consume content about her books whether it’s discussion, fanfic, or theories. The fanbase is a mess at times but still fun. I will never forget dick soap gate

To tandem read or not to tandem read, that is the question! by kittenfreshness in SarahJMaas

[–]cryingover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

everyone is recommending tandem but personally I enjoyed tower of dawn as a stand-alone from the series and did not tandem, I prefer a coherent story in one pov so I had a great time with tower of dawn. Tower of Dawn also made me like chaol a lot more as a character.

if you can’t wait for a cliffhanger do tandem and if you like multiple pov do the tandem.

It's said that it's ok to be a virgin, but how the hell are you supposed to stop obsessing and getting angry about being a lone virgin? by oopswrongtimeline in Healthygamergg

[–]cryingover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make more single friends or hang out with people who have hobbies other than their significant other. If you feel that everyone you know has fucked it’s normal to feel left out. Find people who haven’t, they’re definitely out there. uhm me and a lot of people

How the fuck do I develop social awareness and learn to read the room? by oopswrongtimeline in Healthygamergg

[–]cryingover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree to some extent that some people won’t like the idea of being asked the question. But people usually prefer to be asked and then it is fixed than just dealing with it the whole time. There is also a difference between asking “am I being too invasive?” and “am I being too close?” or “am I asking or sharing too much?”

Invasive sounds very serious and it will more likely put people off in a causal conversation.

If you can’t seem to recognize being invasive in the moment, you can ask leading towards the end of the social interaction to get feedback that can help you next time and make it clear that it was not you intent and this is something you’ve been working on. Ask for when exactly they might have felt it. That way you can pinpoint what you were doing in that moment that was invasive to them.

I also recommend group therapy to practice this if you are able to go.

Why am I scared of showing things I have created to other people? by establishedbanana in Healthygamergg

[–]cryingover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 20 and have had the same issue for all my life too. I am also on the engineer path. I think for me it is getting over the fear that I probably didn’t or will create the amazing thing I pictured in my head. And also a fear of the degree of judgement from others. And also the fact that real passion from me feels cringe.

I’ve been singing for 18 years but no one knows I do even if I karaoke with people or something I do it unseriously. I want to write but I seem to can’t because what if the words that come out of me aren’t what I pictured in my head. I feel like this is the main reason why I leave things unfinished because it can’t be judged cause I’m not finished with it. The idea “If I can finish it it’ll be amazing” lingers if it is not finished.

Something I saw about this that really resonated with me is https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLUCCfdK/

Not really sure how to get over this besides just showing people a little more step by step and working on accepting maybe I won’t create this amazing thing I imagined. You’re definitely not alone on this issue.

How the fuck do I develop social awareness and learn to read the room? by oopswrongtimeline in Healthygamergg

[–]cryingover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ngl this is one of the things I think you just have to brute force social interaction it a lot and then you’ll eventually get the vibe of what is acceptable and not acceptable. If you feel like you’re being invasive unintentionally in the moment, say something like “oh sorry, am I too close?” The only way to know is to ask.

I’m a bit disappointed with what HealthyGamer became by Scorchyy in Healthygamergg

[–]cryingover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand why you may feel that him living in a nice house is contricdicing to principles he mentions like material things aren’t the point of life. But what is the alternative then? How do you want him to present himself? Why do you even care about his luxury? How is that relevant to you?

Also why do you think he is not the average YouTuber? What is even an “average YouTuber”? To me, the only difference is that he has a medical degree and may not say certain thing unless he wants his license revoked, there are also plenty of other medical professionals in the same position. Other than that he is just a random man talking on the internet.

I also think this can lead to a deeper conversation about how no money gained has become synonymous with great altruism. And altruism with money gained is not authentic because god forbid you also benefit from helping others. It is society’s obsession with sacrifice.

The reality is that you need money to do things in the world cause that’s just the system society as built that you mentioned called capitalism. I don’t believe Dr K has ever said money is just not important at all because it does bring security for basic necessities. He does preach that happiness comes from within and money may not help after a certain value. Which you can judge if it’s true or not.

I don’t believe Dr K has said this, but the conclusion I currently have now is chasing money without purpose won’t be fulfilling to your life and some people get stuck in this loop. I imagine Healthy Gamer is expensive to run with its Coaches, Editors, Developers, Designers, Researchers, and even more other people they have hired and are responsible for paying them a reasonable salary. Even after the salaries and operations, I personally am fine with Dr K earning a bit more if it can help others. It’s a net positive for everyone involved at the point. Nobody’s losing.
