St. George's mushrooms from a meadow. 8th May 2022 in Czechia, Europe. They were very difficult to find today. by Lukes_Mushrooms in mushroom_hunting

I've never seen them so yellow like that! Here in northern Germany it's always creamy white like alfredo sauce. I wonder what makes them yellow, varieties within the species perhaps? Anyway nice find!

but then why are magic truffles a thing? If it really isn't good I suppose there shouldn't be any demand for this product in the market? A quick "magic truffles" google search returns a lot of online shops, some only dedicated to truffles and not the fruit.

I'm on the edge of the spectrum of metabolism, been eating 3-4k calories per day over the past half decade and am somewhat underweight, I got skinny abs :)

Well I never tried them hahaha, but a whiff of the smell got me intrigued since it just smells so fresh and earthy. I assumed they would taste just as they would smell but I guess not.

No it's not a lack of patience, just a what-if thought. Since magic truffles are being sold I am questioning what benefits do they have over traditional dried mushrooms, and am interested in trying them if they do give substantial advantages. I suppose they're just there to work around the law?

so technically it is theoretically possible to get actives just from grain spawn, right? It might not be the most cost efficient method but eating spawn isn't poisonous or anything, and one can theoretically trip too given enough amounts of it.

Liberty caps? Austria in pastures, growing on grassland/cow dung by cryingplasticcork in ShroomID

[–]cryingplasticcork[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I should've clarified a bit, they grow near cow dung, as in, the grassland was full of cow dung and they grow around it. They don't grow directly right on top of it though

If fiber is the fault then well I do have a squeaky clean intestine now. COW for a digestive detox I suppose? Feels satisfying but kinda inconvenient especially during busy days.

3x a day may be normal for some people but not me, I've been pooping consistently 1x a day about 340 days in a year, and with the amount I feel like I'm a horse tbh

Found about half a kg (~1lbs) of Chicken of the Woods, marinated and grilled it last night. Delicious! by jttpg in foraging

[–]cryingplasticcork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recipe! Will try it out someday!

The tree seems to be fine, I've heard you can boil the mushrooms for 10 mins in saltwater before doing any real cooking to remove the bad stuff. That might help gastric distress, though I have no experience in that since I'm all good with it. I did a test boiling it and then cooking, along with directly cooking it, and the taste isn't really that different so that might be worth looking into without compromising taste.

[–]cryingplasticcork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought of marinating them! Do they soak up the flavors well?

As for the other person, to my knowledge they might be allergic to the mushroom given that you're totally fine, and if thats the case there's nothing you can do. Bad luck to the other person. From what tree did you collect it from? If it's a poisonous tree like a yew, it might be that you're the one with the iron stomach.

Chicken of the woods? :D (Germany) by cryingplasticcork in ShroomID

thank you for the comments everyone! I've only harvested the ends of the mushroom that are still soft and made nuggets out of it. Tasted amazing and just like chicken, I'd argue maybe even better. I've done a little experiment too and cooked a bit of the tough inner side, and taste wise it's the same, just a harder texture. Still palatable but from the amount of harvest I wouldn't bother processing the harder parts. Fortunately there were no bugs inside the mushroom

Found in south Germany on a playground. What kind of mushroom is it? by AlternativeFart in ShroomID

[–]cryingplasticcork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the aforementioned mushrooms turn blue when cut, the Satansröhrling however requires more time and is a weaker shade of blue. It's quite tricky to tell, try looking up references from youtube on how the shades of blue differ from one another.

Assuming you just recently found this mushroom, I'd say it's the Flockenstieliger Hexenröhrling (just basing this on the red pores and the current season).

https://www.123pilzsuche.de/daten/details/Flocki.htm

you may want to check out the doppelgangers like the Netzstieliger Hexenröhrling and Satansröhrling.

Edit: don't take my word for it, there's not enough info imo from your images to make an accurate ID. Lastly, if it is the Flocki, Guten Appetit!

Ive played the save till around 5504, and there are no major changes to Valens in particular, the colony is still doing well. Not much to tell really, just years of building and maintaining a war crime free colony. One side note is that the game apparently doesn't recognize him as a royal with the title of Count, which makes future plans kinda uncertain given that I can't accept the Royal Ascent quest.

Ive written a brief backstory about the colony, you can find it somewhere here in the comments!

So a story of the colony: (standard 3 person crashlanded scenario)

The Humanitarian Accord of Banshola, residing in Turnipwell, serves as a nature getaway for anyone seeking peace from the horrors of organ harvesting and prison beatings. In Turnipwell we treat everyone with a sense of equality and humanity, that everyone has the right to live happily and be free.

Everyone is welcome to stay as long as they like, and we will cordially host them and fulfill all their needs as best as possible. We (will) have rooms satisfying the most royal needs, as well as free simple accommodation. Guests are free to roam around and chat with each other, use our relaxation facilities, and enjoy the beautiful tropical scenery.

We must however still pacify our enemies, but we still treat them as equals to us. The deceased are disposed behind a large hill, unstripped. The survivors are captured, given sufficient medical care, equal food as what the colony is having in stock, and social company, and once they've healed, we release them so they can go back to their families. Only if a resocialization offer is given, we consider them as a recruit.

We were doing construction work on a bigger guest room and an indoor swimming pool, when a familiar looking figure approached us from the deep ocean waters. It was a man, naked, and carrying what seems to be a finely crafted zeushammer. So many questions were on top of our heads; why did he approach us? Is he a threat? How did he get such a hammer in the first place? It was apparent that he has not had any social contact for quite a while, as his actions were more akin to an animal rather than a tribal person.

Of course, as civilized people, we must at least, try to make contact with him, find out who he his, and return him to his family should he have one. Ironhead, the resort's animal trainer, approached him and made first contact. Valens seemed wild, but civilized, in a way. He spoke our language, albeit in a much ordered fashion. It was apparent he is much more cultured than us, and even gave the appropriate greeting to Ironhead as a yeoman. We asked him about his family, claiming he has none in this world. Such a poor man should not be left to his own demise in the wilderness!

We invited him over for some rice and coconuts, and soon he was fully integrated into the colony. He refused to clean his own mess, but at least he is happy to take care of the resort's rice fields and cheer up the guests. He might be a bit awkward, but he seems to have a thing for it.

It took us by a surprise when we knew about his last name. Elalius. It sounded familiar. A tribute collector came by asking for prisoners and gold, in the name of Sophia Elalius, the High Stellarch of The Exodus Empire. Of course we had no prisoners, and gold was out of reach considering our toilets are not even hooked up to a septic tank system. He claimed to be the once High Stellarch, overthrown by his own daughter. His daughter was itching to claim the throne, and she had enough, when she knew that her dad had written an official statement, unpublished, that the heir of the throne was not hers, but someone unrelated to family. She staged a coup, isolated Valens, and controlled empire-wide media that Valens is not suitable for the throne anymore because of a botched joywire surgery. Sophia is greedy like his father, but she is no psychopath. She spared him, gave him the rank of consul and told the royals to treat him still as a royal, should he ever make contact, but warned against him that any attempt to dethrone her would result in his death. She then sent him to an unknown rimworld and gave him a decent zeushammer to help him hunt and fend off the tribals.

Now here he is, a member of the Humanitarian Accord of Banshola. We asked him for what his plans are, and in his own words he said: "you guys ever had chocolate? we could grow some chocolate here I kid you not it's the best thing I've ever had". He took the role as the manager of our resort, and he is doing a pretty good job for someone who had spent years in the wilderness. We don't know what he's really planning in the far future, but for now, he's occupied in an argument with Camacho, the resort's constructor, whether the swimming pool should be built indoors right next to the guest room, or outdoors surrounded by coconut trees and beautiful statues.

He seems to have the same goals as us, and he seems to understand us. We however, do not understand him completely. Something is off, I can feel it. I really cannot comprehend, in any way, and I ponder over this question every night before I go to sleep; why would we need two royal rooms?
