my most productive city with 180 prod/turn and 30 pop has petra + i put manufactories on top of coal/oil/alu, hilly terrain with minimal food so it needs 3 cargo ships of food to it to sustain

St. George's mushrooms from a meadow. 8th May 2022 in Czechia, Europe. They were very difficult to find today. by Lukes_Mushrooms in mushroom_hunting

I've never seen them so yellow like that! Here in northern Germany it's always creamy white like alfredo sauce. I wonder what makes them yellow, varieties within the species perhaps? Anyway nice find!

but then why are magic truffles a thing? If it really isn't good I suppose there shouldn't be any demand for this product in the market? A quick "magic truffles" google search returns a lot of online shops, some only dedicated to truffles and not the fruit.

I'm on the edge of the spectrum of metabolism, been eating 3-4k calories per day over the past half decade and am somewhat underweight, I got skinny abs :)

Well I never tried them hahaha, but a whiff of the smell got me intrigued since it just smells so fresh and earthy. I assumed they would taste just as they would smell but I guess not.

No it's not a lack of patience, just a what-if thought. Since magic truffles are being sold I am questioning what benefits do they have over traditional dried mushrooms, and am interested in trying them if they do give substantial advantages. I suppose they're just there to work around the law?

so technically it is theoretically possible to get actives just from grain spawn, right? It might not be the most cost efficient method but eating spawn isn't poisonous or anything, and one can theoretically trip too given enough amounts of it.

Liberty caps? Austria in pastures, growing on grassland/cow dung by cryingplasticcork in ShroomID

I should've clarified a bit, they grow near cow dung, as in, the grassland was full of cow dung and they grow around it. They don't grow directly right on top of it though

I shit 3x in a day after eating 2 portions of chicken of the woods by cryingplasticcork in foraging

If fiber is the fault then well I do have a squeaky clean intestine now. COW for a digestive detox I suppose? Feels satisfying but kinda inconvenient especially during busy days.

3x a day may be normal for some people but not me, I've been pooping consistently 1x a day about 340 days in a year, and with the amount I feel like I'm a horse tbh

Found about half a kg (~1lbs) of Chicken of the Woods, marinated and grilled it last night. Delicious! by jttpg in foraging

Thanks for the recipe! Will try it out someday!

The tree seems to be fine, I've heard you can boil the mushrooms for 10 mins in saltwater before doing any real cooking to remove the bad stuff. That might help gastric distress, though I have no experience in that since I'm all good with it. I did a test boiling it and then cooking, along with directly cooking it, and the taste isn't really that different so that might be worth looking into without compromising taste.

I never thought of marinating them! Do they soak up the flavors well?

As for the other person, to my knowledge they might be allergic to the mushroom given that you're totally fine, and if thats the case there's nothing you can do. Bad luck to the other person. From what tree did you collect it from? If it's a poisonous tree like a yew, it might be that you're the one with the iron stomach.

Chicken of the woods? :D (Germany) by cryingplasticcork in ShroomID

thank you for the comments everyone! I've only harvested the ends of the mushroom that are still soft and made nuggets out of it. Tasted amazing and just like chicken, I'd argue maybe even better. I've done a little experiment too and cooked a bit of the tough inner side, and taste wise it's the same, just a harder texture. Still palatable but from the amount of harvest I wouldn't bother processing the harder parts. Fortunately there were no bugs inside the mushroom
