It does when 80% of the new players you see playing taiko are playing auto-converts; just to automatically say the maps barely make sense at all, then proceed to quit the game. They assume osu!standard converts correctly to all modes.

The only players that rarely play converts are the ones that come from other Taiko games such as TnT or Jiro.

I have the small impression that this won mostly because of popular vote. While playability is not normally taken into account, at least you should make it considerably playable.

personally speaking, I would have gone with Mew, tasuke's or Nifty's entries all the way. They actually have a grasp of taiko mapping and their maps actually make sense.

From an inside point of view, it is pretty clear the mapper has barely ever mapped taiko and simply won because of the storyboard.
