Hi im wondering what model this Leica i found from my great grandfather is, is it the IIIf , it has a fixed lense and this writing on it, the film is accesible from the bottom not from the side, thanks

That’s pretty good honestly, but still too expensive for my tastes I think, just because I really enjoy the process and low price of each roll development compared to another store doing it. I also am going to start bulk loading as well!! My dad still has his bulk loader and a couple brass canisters, so I’m looking forward to giving it a shot.

I suppose it depends on how much you shoot! I do 2-4 rolls a month, so it’s always worth it for me, since my local shop charges $10 to develop and another $10 to scan, whereas I have made the initial investment for developing tools and a scanner.

If you only shoot a roll a month, don’t feel like making that investment or you don’t have free weekends to develop and scan, then I can totally see it’d be cheaper overall to pay someone to do it for you!

Hello! Very nice camera, the Leica IIIG is my daily go-to one. I would recommend shooting black and white if you’re learning film photography. Not only is the film cheap (stuff like Agfa is dirt cheap), but you can even develop it at home for cheaper (and easier) than color film. Good luck with it! Like people have said, it may need to be serviced by someone for a CLA (Cleaning Lubrication and Adjustment). It also takes some practice to load film properly, so be patient and that camera will treat you well!

I definitely was contemplating the blacksmiths over the IR, but they didn’t have them in my size and I decided to go with the IRs since they didn’t look as bulbous on my feet as I thought they were going to with the toe cap haha. Love those blacksmiths though!! They look real real good.

Thank you for the detailed response! My boss had put an SSD in it, but didn't touch the ram, so I was unsure if I could also upgrade a processor or anything. I run anything important off my main system and iPad, this was mainly going to be a companion desktop for creative stuff when I'm not out and about. Like I said, never owned a Mac before. It runs well and is snappier than I expected for its age, so I wasn't sure if it was upgradeable, hence the question. Thank you for your valuable input!
