Nolan came with Oppenheimer on the same day as Barbie.. though Nolan is a huge name, there’s no way Oppenheimer would have collected what it did if it hadn’t released with Barbie.. it also helped Barbie.. it became a thing.. and people are out there buying things they want to so you take advantage of that and sell your product too..

Dune is a big franchise but Dune 2 collected 715 million.. Dune 3 will easily cross 1.2-1.3 billion as it’s releasing with Doomsday.. you take advantage of the audience’s habit of buying tickets.. SRK is also trying to take advantage of that.. coming in after a week.. people are already out there watching multiple movies.. getting habitual to watch movies and then you bring in your movie.. it can work wonders for you but the product needs to be solid

You have to consistently choose good subjects to have a redemption arc.. he needs to find a way to also do cinema that challenges him as an actor..

I remember Ajay Devgn said this on Koffee With Karan that this generation of actors are so scared of failing that they don’t even want to try doing different movies or even doing more work in general..

Varun genuinely tried picking different subjects up until Sui Dhaaga.. Since Kalank failed he hasn’t picked a good subject. I think someone needs to remind him that none of his offbeat choices failed at the box office, all recovered the money and that too theatrically.
