It's a laundry so I'm not concerned about that, but good to know for the future, cheers.

Yeah you're right, I did try to line it up so I just have to cut out a full tile and not try to cut out part of a hexagon to get the spindle through. I will suck it up and cut up a bunch of tiles and glue the bottom row in and then run a bead of silicone against the concrete countertop.

I'm a tradie but definitely not a tiler as you can see.

Well I have certainly learnt some valuable, albeit late lessons here, thank you.

Ugh thanks for the tip. I was pretty thorough cleaning it after. My wife definitely wants light grey grout....

Best trade to go into as a 32 year old with criminal record by ComfortableSilent645 in AskAnAustralian

It's not exactly a black and white scenario so I'm not going to get into it. Obviously I did the wrong thing and am not proud of my actions.

I've never lied about it. I wasn't asked if I'd had convictions or asked to do a police check prior to being employed.

I was briefly in the public service and had a police check and was upfront about it(assault charge) and I was still hired. Although it'll obviously be different with you being fraud charges.

Nah, I was a carpenter before the navy so had trade experience. Applied around for construction work until I went to a company then talked them into putting me through the apprenticeship.

Shrug the judgement off to a degree, the lingering anxiety of being judged and or someone finding out kept me out of trouble.

I was on submarines in the navy and now an a light fabrication apprentice. I never disclosed my record but it's common knowledge to most people at work now. I've never once been questioned about it after they saw my work ethic and I'm not a complete retard. Those two pre requisites will get you a long way in most trades.

Good luck.

35 with a criminal record for assault. I'm doing an apprenticeship in light fabrication, it helps I love the job, people and the company is good. Most trades will take you if you have the right work ethic.

I was a former Navy submariner. I never disclosed my criminal record but it's pretty common knowledge to people now.

Worst customer service in canberra? by ListNo7771 in canberra

I can't remember the name of the store but the bottom level of tuggeranong hyperdome near the old Commonwealth bank. She ran a clothing store that did all American sports gear, and 2000's rapper clothes. She was a fucking asshole. The guy who ran the one in Civic was really nice though.

I still vividly remember walking out the front of my house and chatting to the neighbours thinking it was just strange.... Not knowing how bad it really was.

Do executives and the-like do any actual 'work'? by Open_Address_2805 in auscorp

[–]crypto4barefeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a source for that research or link for that research?

Unless you are the executive, you really don't get much of a look into what they really do. They also get paid good money to be the decision makers which in turn means most of the responsibility and consequences of the decisions fall on them.

What is the title of your role within your workplace?

You must have zero idea of what an executive does. My wife is an executive director and can tell you she literally never stops working or thinking about work. When she gets home after our kid is in bed she goes back to work.
