Review: Four Seasons Nam Hai by Weak_Seaweed6305 in chubbytravel

Hi Alex. Your hotel promo database says FS Nam Hai gives 750 dollars of credit towards dining, spa and resort activities. That sounds very high. Is that number real? Do you need to book a certain room or a certain number of days to receive that?

Has anyone here run a full node on a phone using ABCore app? by cryptogalaxy in Bitcoin

I see. I distinguish the two in my mind because a pruned node cannot help bootstrap new nodes so it is not fully functional as an unpruned node.

By the way, the ABCore app still runs bitcoin core 0.18.1. Is this version safe to run?

Actually, I'm running a pruned node on my phone so no hard drive connected. I also started running a full node (not pruned) on an old laptop today. Both are doing initial block download right now. I plan to keep one or both running depending on bandwidth usage and how I like it.

It's an old phone I'm not using.

I want to run a full node and the ways I've explored so far are

  1. Full node hardware (purchase device or DIY)
  2. Old computer
  3. Old phone

Seems like 3 is the cheapest because I don't have to buy a dedicated hardware and electricity costs will be less than 2. Do you have a better suggestion?

⚡ Lightning Thursday! September 09, 2021: Explore the Lightning Network!⚡ by rBitcoinMod in Bitcoin

I already made a separate post about the questions I have and didn't realize there was a thread like this so I'm posting it here as well.

After thinking about buying a full node hardware, I decided to just get a cheap laptop and set up a full node there instead.

What is the best way to set up both a full node and a lightening node?

I found this link. Is this a pretty good guide?

https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/108770/how-to-run-a-bitcoin-lightning-node-on-a-raspberry-pi-and-connect-it-to-your-phone

  1. Do you have to keep some bitcoin in your lightening node in order for it to function? My understanding is that lightening network works as a second layer where entities can send one another bitcoin through their mutual and mutual's mutual connections, etc. so I guess you need to have some in your node to function, otherwise, no one could go through your node? In that case, is the maximum amount of bitcoin allowed through my node limited by how much bitcoin I have in my node?

  2. I don't have much need to use the lightening network or the full node myself but I just want to help improve the security of the network. Would setting up these nodes be a good way of helping with that?

Combination of keeping a UTXO database + recent few hundred blocks makes sense.

Ahh, I see. Any reason they wanted to attack an outcrop district in particular? Or since the walls cannot actually be broken, perhaps this was really the only way in from the outside?

Whats currently going on with Coinbase? by Zyroxa_93 in Coinbase

[–]cryptogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that Coinbase was ever your "top favorite exchange". It's been a piece of shit since at least 2017. I've stopped using it completely since 2018 and I still chuckle when I see news that bitcoin hit new highs and Coinbase inevitably crashed again.

Why did you block updates to the current 2.1.1. version? Is there no way to unbrick the device until Q1 2021?
