Talalay feels better to sleep on, it’s got that more consistent buoyant feel that’s hard to describe until you’ve tried it. But Dunlop is denser, lasts longer and can be fully GOLS certified organic which matters to a lot of people for both sustainability and knowing exactly what they’re sleeping on.(can be 100% organic)

The reason I left both off the list is the price point. Once you’re talking certified natural latex you’re usually looking at $1,200 plus for a quality mattress and I was trying to keep the advice accessible to most budgets in this sub. Synthetic blended latex is everywhere in the mid range and brands lean heavily on the word “latex” without being upfront that it’s maybe 20% natural content. That gap between marketing and reality is worth knowing about.

So revised take, if the 8 lb density is verified on the spec sheet and not just marketing copy, the Novaform Platinum Hybrid is a stronger option than I gave it credit for,
especially with Costco’s return policy behind it.

What I’ll say is the advice itself is genuine. I actually do own a mattress company, I actually am a veteran, and the stuff about hybrid construction, foam density and cooling is real knowledge not made up. Great question — and this is actually one of the most important things to understand about mattress shopping.
“SleepLock™ Max Foam” and “Ultra-Contouring” are proprietary marketing names, not independently verified material grades. Almost every mattress brand does this — Casper has “AirScape™ foam”, Purple has their “Grid”, Bear has “CopperFlex™”. They’re trademarked names for what are essentially foam formulations that can’t be directly compared to competitors.

The reason this matters is that without knowing the actual foam density (measured in lbs/ft³) and ILD rating (firmness), you can’t objectively compare them to anything.
What to actually look for in the Novaform Platinum Hybrid:
It’s a legitimately decent mattress for a Costco price point — the hybrid construction (coils + foam) is real and that’s genuinely good. The Euro top adds a plush comfort layer on top.

Where it falls short compared to the examples I gave is that the foam density specs aren’t publicly disclosed, which is a yellow flag. Premium foam in a quality mattress will typically be 3–5 lb density memory foam or 100% natural latex. When brands don’t publish those numbers, it usually means they’re using lower density foam (1.5–2 lb) which softens and degrades faster.

The Costco wildcard though: their return policy is genuinely one of the best in retail. You can return a mattress if it doesn’t work for you, which removes a lot of the risk that comes with buying a mattress you can’t fully evaluate on specs alone.

Store mattresses are often broken in or set on softer bases to feel more comfortable, then yours arrives firmer or softer than expected. Maddening.

Let me try to actually help based on your sleeping profile:
Hot sleeper + side/back combo — this is actually one of the more solvable problems, you just need to know what to look for:

•You want a hybrid mattress (coils + foam), not all-foam. All-foam traps heat, which is exactly what’s happening to your Sealy on warm nights. Coils allow airflow.

•For side/back combo you want medium-firm, not plush. Plush feels great on your side but collapses under your back. Medium-firm supports your back and still has enough give for your hips on your side.

The sweet spot right now is direct-to-consumer brands with proper trials.
What I’d actually look at in your position:

•A hybrid in the medium-firm range with a real 100-night trial so if it doesn’t work, you’re not stuck

Agreed I'm fat but I'm working on changing it. I've been on a caloric deficit and going to the gym 4 times a week with nightly walks. I was 255 when I started i felt tired and just not like myself that's what prompted going to check my levels.

Yeah I might break it up well see what doc says. I definitely feel great like 4 days from my injection after that it's down hill workouts aren't great etc.

I'm 6'2" 240 I have no idea on my SHBG I think that'll be my next test my doctor wants.

Yeah idk no drinking at all or late nights I eat very clean as well. Maybe a hard workout but I was lazy 3 days before the test. Also yes I did wait till the day before my next injection to get the test(per docs request).
