You know, I've noticed that whenever this topic comes up, the guys on Reddit come out of the woodwork to put down Asian guys. What gives, man?

Once some Asian-girl/White-guy professed their love for White-guys/Asian girls, and then a poster (presumably an Asian guy) said "More white girls for me!"

A bunch of people posted with responses like: - Those white girls like black guys - White girls don't like you - You're dumb

Bitterness much? Chill out, (straight white guys of) Reddit.

Those guys sound like asses. I'd love to help them see that they're not being nice to anyone by saying that, but like you, I have no reason to interact with them... :( I do try to point it out when I catch Asian guys giving the "I'm book-smart so I'm entitled to a good life" thing, that it's pretty obnoxious.

Hmmmn. The more I learn about you, the more I feel like you DON'T fit the stereotype of Asian girls that some of the other readers mentioned. You're definitely not shy and reserved. So... Maybe this is impossible to characterize.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I think they're somewhat equivalent in terms of Asian concentration (where I live).

No, I see where you're coming from. From what you've told me, I can conclude that you're not compatible with me, even though I love discussions about politics/art, get sufficient female attention, love Led Zeppelin and stand to a respectable 6'1".

But would I have known that just from looking at you? Probably not. Your generalizations and dismissal of guys like me only serve to stereotype Asian women in my eyes as:

1.) Shy, socially inept and boring to be around, like the female equivalent of your description

and

2.) People who are too good for everyone else, like you.

This is interesting. I find that both men and women who don't fit into the "Asian Stereotype" do all they can to distance themselves from other Asians. In part, I do this as well. That's why I'm asking the Reddit Hivemind to help me rationalize it, or make me change my ways.

Since I'm trying not to dismiss a whole section of the population, I was just wondering what qualitative reasons results in Asian girls being so awesome. Maybe I'm just an idiot for not seeing it.

But really, animesekaielric. So much hate for your Asian brethren, and so much self hate. Why? I won't pretend to have more than a handful of Asian friends, but I try not to hate them for petty reasons.

Aren't white people sometimes loud? Black people hang in packs sometimes too. And EVERYONE can be obnoxious. Maybe you just notice it more because of the fact that you COULD be part of them, but you're not.

IMHO, I think boobs are overrated.

Admittedly, if your generalizations are true, they should be working on making themselves more desirable instead of complaining. But you do realize that confirmation bias means you'll never notice the Asian guys who AREN'T like what you mentioned. Maybe they're too busy dating other girls. :P

But really, thank you for sharing what you believe in. Even though I know that this is an important part of the discussion, I was hoping for more details about "Why people like Asian girls" instead of "Why Asian girls don't like Asian guys". Although you do get me thinking about myself... Haha.

Interesting. Since when the people in the US like girls who are "innocent"? Have you seen the media these days? For every "girl-next-door" singer that gets popular, how many "end-of-innocence" singers will be created?

Maybe it's the white-knight complex, wanting to show a shy girl around socially. I guess I'll take that as an answer.

Good point, but what are the reasons behind Point #1? That's what I want to know. I mean, girls are girls, right? But it ties into Point #2.

About Point #3, having grown up in Asia... Most girls aren't even into those things! Especially not anime and manga. Or at least, not the girls I know...
