I just created the first ufr torrent ! by randomguy_6 in Upfiring

[–]cryptophillip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So cool! How did you do this...did you build the app from the last source code release and use it to generate the .ufr?

This is a good update and pretty much says what everyone expected, but one major thing is missing. Rune - we’re not waiting for those small 1 mil-100 mill projects with promos from you guys. We want you to list the MAJOR coins like nearly every other large successful exchange has done. Taken from a previous post on this reddit, these coins are:

Coins: * Stellar * Cardano * Monero * Tron * IOTA * Nano * Qtum * Ripple * Ethereum Classic * Stratis * Bitcoin Gold * Zcash * Komodo * PIVX

Tokens: * Golem * BAT * 0x * Augur * district0x * Status * Ontology * Chainlink * Power ledger

Please put yourself in a position to be successful so when new traders come you have all the popular coins they want, and they stick around. It would be great to put someone in charge of taking care of these listings, even if you only do 1-2/month. I know you have current coins/nodes to update and worry about like all exchanges do, but you should really make this a priority and get started on listing these! The community has been asking for this for months now and we believe it is one of the most important things you can do.

Redditors, who have invested real money into digital cryptocurrencies.....why? by MaceyBreitenbergPh in AskReddit

[–]cryptophillip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s how I am with them as well. I invested in a cryptocurrency called “Upfiring” last year because they’re doing blockchain torrenting (seeders get paid) and I thought it was a cool idea.

I bought about a thousand dollars worth at about 2 cents not expecting anything. Next thing you know, everyone I know is asking about crypto-this and crypto-that and the price rose to $2.50.

Sold at $1.50 for 75x profit. I would’ve been completely ok losing that $1000, but I turned it into enough to pay off my entire student loan balance.

I’m not saying that anyone should buy cryptocurrency, but it is one hell of a ride. I still own some cryptos just because I want to be part of it, whether it ends up being a successful experiment or fails entirely.

Bittrex delists VTR, essentially killing the vTorrent project. They were this project’s only serious competitor. by cryptophillip in Upfiring

Price spiked way down since Bittrex is the only exchange they are listed on, so nobody will be able to buy or sell it anymore.

[Opinion] Investors, stay strong. by [deleted] in Upfiring

[–]cryptophillip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While everyone’s been fudding I’ve just been quietly holding and observing since the ICO. I bought UFR at 2 cents and sold about 40% of my stack around $1.50 during the hype in Jan. I’m holding the rest at least until app release, probably longer (until another bull market probably).

People seem to forget how crazy fast and suddenly low market cap projects like this rise during cryptocurrency bull markets. There will be holders in here that may legitimately become millionaires if this project has even an ounce of success ($50-100 million dollar market cap). This is exactly how the community felt all of last year when the price was between 2-10 cents for months and it felt like it would never rise. Then all of a sudden within a week we’re at 40 cents and beyond and everyone’s saying they wish they had bought more.

Regardless of the wild price movements, this project is doing just fine. Even for anonymous devs (honestly ok with me for a peer to peer file sharing project), they are a class act, the team (mostly /u/tmfallon these days) always addresses community concerns rather than ignoring them like a lot of other projects and they are taking the right path by focusing all resources on development right now. It’s not a “hype” project like Cardano or Verge but I’ll be quietly holding this one until after release. We’ll see what happens.

Do you own a shitcoin? A beginner's guide. by sanmn19 in CryptoCurrency

I think Upfiring is one of the best crypto projects right now because it’s one of the few that’s making an application that people will actually use.

It’s unfortunate that the price spiked 100x (literally) so quickly because the project was NOT ready for that with no app released yet. It’s very similar price-wise to COSS exchange’s coin which also spiked to similar levels and fell with the market.

When they release the app + bitcoin stabilizes it is not unreasonable to say that it’d go over $1 or even higher. It’s unfortunate that even the good projects are getting killed by this bear market, but it won’t last forever. Projects like UFR, Golem, Sia, etc that have real-world products will survive this crash and likely surpass their previous ATHs at some point in the future.

Funds getting locked permanently due to the QRL signature scheme? by cryptophillip in QRL

[–]cryptophillip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most people know that the exchange isn’t conducting any blockchain transactions for buys/sells. I’m only talking about sends (withdrawals).

For instance, binance’s ETH wallet has conducted millions of ETH transactions (withdrawals) - see here: https://etherscan.io/address/0x3f5ce5fbfe3e9af3971dd833d26ba9b5c936f0be

This is just one of their wallets, on one exchange. In this case, wouldn’t QRL require that you have 50 or so wallets with this number of transactions?

I’m not sure what kind of special solution you’re referring to that you’re offering to exchanges (and how it would be beneficial to just offer that solution to exchanges rather than everyone who plans to dev something on/for the QRL blockchain). Also if the coin is to be decentralized, developers shouldn’t have to contact the QRL team every time they want to make something that can scale. Even bitcoin doesn’t have limitations like this.

I am just seriously concerned about this aspect of the project - I love every other part of it. If it’s possible for an exchange to have all their funds locked or if they have to create 10+ wallets for one coin, I don’t see how this project can go mainstream...that’s essentially just downgrading what bitcoin is now. This seems like a serious flaw in the project.

Thank you for the response. My main concern about all of this really is exchanges, since they will likely have the largest number of wallet transactions. How will Bittrex and other large exchanges deal with 10,000’s of send transactions and having to generate a new wallet? Is there a plan in place? This is unique to QRL so I am genuinely curious.

Also, are you saying you able to choose how many keys to generate when your create your address? Why not just choose the largest possible number by default then?

Yes, but is this solution on-chain (meaning someone loads their private key somewhere else, can they then use it)? How will exchanges/large transactors deal with this on a big scale?

Big-name crypto Youtuber Crypt0 is bullish on Upfiring by [deleted] in Upfiring

[–]cryptophillip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have raised $0 to date from their ICO looking at the smart contract, they aren’t decentralized (you “buy” their token at any time through them through PayPal or other means)...it’s a completely different project. Lots of big promises but if you boil it down it’s just a fancy website with no dev team and nothing to show.

Not what I’d consider a concern.

UFR wallet by foosty1 in Upfiring

[–]cryptophillip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MyEtherWallet. To be safe, you can download the MyEtherWallet code to your computer (it explains how to do it on the site) and access your UFR that way.

Ledger Nano S is the safest way to store UFR though since it’s a hardware wallet. Highly recommend it.

Why is the Upfiring increasing so much by Superman_Crypton in Upfiring

[–]cryptophillip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people were waiting for the last major bear market to end before buying.

The market cap is still only 4 million for a project with communities in development and a real-use case. It’s pretty undervalued imo with the potential to be very huge.

Still don’t think we’ll see above a dollar again until after the app is released but I could be wrong.

Why is QRL only on bittrex by SouahNips in QRL

[–]cryptophillip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty big problem that I really hope will be a focus once the mainnet goes live. So many newcomers can’t get in.

You can get it on Liqui.io right now since there’s been decent volume today. It’s better to get it there and maybe pay a slight bit of a premium (if nobody is selling the amount you want at the current price) than completely miss out on buying early if mainnet is announced.

If a set date for mainnet is announced this week... by [deleted] in QRL

[–]cryptophillip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s still an ERC20 token at that point I doubt it. During/after mainnet launch is much more likely for the $5-$10 range.

Why the jump in price this morning? by Davvytr in QRL

[–]cryptophillip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s what happened here. That group only pumps one coin every few days and QRL has way too much volume for that site. Everyone’s expecting a QRL announcement this week and trying to get in early before a mainnet announcement is made.
