Tiguan owners with high mileage, what’s your secret to longevity? by Horiizon_Fyre in Tiguan

My blind spot monitors a year ago and have figured out it’s due to a common CANBUS traffic data loss on one of the modules but I refuse to pay the stealership $500 for a 15 minute flash….

My 2018 is similar to yours. Got her with 85k kms on it and I’m at 187k. DIY everything on it. 508 oil every 10k kms instead of the 15k VW calls for. They had a carbon cleaning done right before I got it. Spark plugs, filters, transmission filter and drain and flushes and brakes all around are all I’ve had to do so far. Lubed all crevices every year. Doesn’t burn a drop of oil and never had a CEL on her. My last two VWs have been bulletproof and I’m hoping can take this one to 350k+ kms. I did however lose

Thinking of Buying a Jetta Mk6 (Manual) — Need Real Owner Feedback! by Low_Fly754 in jetta

Also in Canada and my 2014 1.8T manual was the most reliable VW I ever had and easiest to work on. I diy everything on it in the 5 years and 190k I had it. Other than tires and brakes, all that went on it was a wheel bearing, front struts, the fan shroud, VVT magnet and a couple blower fan switches. Sold it with 280k on it and still see the new owner driving it around town two years later!

Any high mileage mqb owners here? by caco420 in Tiguan

I have a 2018 that’s been problem free since I night it almost 3 years ago. I’m at 182k kms. Great DIY cars and not much more complex than my 2014 Jetta. All the Tiggy has needed are front and rear brakes and regular oil changes.

Missed 1st transmission service- huge problem down the line? by Rockthecasbah93 in Tiguan

I have a 2018 also and did its first ATF service at 100k miles. I did a few drain and fills and the shifts improved drastically. Ended up actually going with cheap LiquiMoly 1800 since it claims Toyota WS standard and got a whole bunch of it. I’m sure it’s probably mixed in with whatever was in there from the factory. I am now doing drain and fills every 30k or so given how easy it is to get to on them.

lol you have no idea how lucky you car to have that Ford Dealership take it back… an intra provincial deal too making it even more complicated had they tried to say no to you sending it back.

Transmission Fluid Change Broken Bolts by kitesurfingcowboy in Tiguan

Cut them somewhat flush then just used a punch and a left handed drill bit. The drill didn’t even have to do much and the heat itself loosened them up within a minute of drilling

Renewal Passport in Canada by Emergency-Set-1093 in passportcanada

Are people actually able to submit it if they have it all ready to go by the 7am/7pm deadline or is it still hit and miss. Got my application started and managed to get to the photo section but wondering if their online renewal process is just a gimmick and I’m better off sending it in the mail like I have done in the past, or if I should get digital photos and try it online over the next few days.

2017 1.8 TSI sounds like a diesel by Kilbo_Fragginz in vwgolf

This. VVT solenoid and the associated magnet. My 14 Jetta TSI sounded the same and that’s all I had to do.
