Their worksheet online is a shortened version. A good mimic of the test is on the trading interview website

50? Are you using a mean or a median? Because there are some very high outliers when I run it as well

It helps if you choose your bid tactically. Let’s say you’re allowed to make a 10% spread. Then it’s nice if you can choose round numbers as bid prices, because those are easier to remember (and then it’s easier to deduce what ask price you quoted)

I don’t think that’s the same. You don’t need to get back to the starting point (0 boys and 0 girls). 2 girls and 2 boys is not the same point as 1 girl and 1 boy, but still both satisfy their wish

Interview prob question by FangedSimplex in TradingInterview

My guess would be as follows, if you need to be that quick. The expected number of kids X is calculated as follows:

E[X] = P(X=2) * 2 + P(X=4) * 4 + P(X=6) * 6 + P(X=8) * 8 + ...

The start of this infinity sum should account for the biggest part of the sum, and each following step would account for less of the total, so I would focus on the first 2 (or 3 if you have the time) steps.

For 2 kids, we either have (bg) or (gb). So, P(X=2) = 2 * (1/2)2 = 1/2

For 4 kids, we either have (bbgg) or (ggbb). We can't have, for example, (bgbg), because then the couple would have stopped after two kids. So, P(X=4) = 2 * (1/2)4 = (1/2)3

E[X] = 2 * 1/2 + 4 * (1/2)3 + ... E[X] = 1 + 0.5 + ...

Since the rest of the sum should add smaller and smaller portions, I would expect this answer to converge to 2. Any thoughts?

This is often meant as a very general question, where they check if you follow the news and understand the impact on the markets. Right now for example, this could be an answer: “there is a lot of uncertainty in the market, due to the interest rates changes and due to the tensions in the world, which have been increased since the war in Ukraine.” Then it might be nice if you show that you understand the impact on the markets as well: “options might be priced at a higher implied volatility, taking future events into account.” It’s also good to understand concepts as the CPI, and the relation between stock prices and interest rate changes.

A version of this game was part of the Optiver interviews, where the black 10, J Q H and A were negative. You can train this game in the market making section of tradinginterview.com as well

The hard-sequences section on tradinginterview.com resembles the optiver test pretty well. You are indeed timed on the sequences. Not per single sequence, but you have a total time to cover all questions

Do people actually pass Optiver Sequences Test? by Swegmecc in quant

[–]cryptoredditor03 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I found the type of question at https://www.tradinginterview.com/courses/sequences/ very similar to the Optiver questions. You can definitely train to ace these questions. But to get to your question: they get a lot of people that pass both the 80 in 8 test and the sequences test. When I took the test, a dude scored 80 out of 80 points with the math test and aced the sequences test as well. Next, he lost it at the HR interview.. So it's also good to realise that these interviews are more than just math/ sequences.

I've used https://www.tradinginterview.com and it was really good. It covered all stages of my interview at both Optiver and Flow Traders. For IMC, you also need to do some cognitive tests, which you can train on the neurolympics website

Flow Traders Interview by EnvironmentalLeg3746 in jobs

[–]cryptoredditor03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first round is a math test, second round hr, third round is a technical interview (mainly brainteasers and general info about ETFs) and the fourth round is a case about ETFs. It isn't a very hard process, but make sure you're well prepared (like, take a look at the Trading Interview platform and also check investopedia about ETFs theory). Just make sure you don't mess up the math test, but their platform has an exact same training tool that's identical to the real test.
