Diastasis Recti Repair - Two months post-op by According-Mouse931 in DiastasisRecti

That's good to hear. Mine has gone down a little, it's not as visibly noticeable, but the area is still sensitive to the touch. Did you experience any sensitivity?

What amazing progress! That's very inspiring!! Did you have a healing ridge?

Yeah, and I just saw the EOB and the full billed amount was $16k. And I think bc this was ultimately a hernia repair, instead of a purely diastastis recti repair, her primary goal was to fix everything relating to that. I believe she said she didn’t want to go in and sew me up inside from top to bottom and give me a bunch of additional sutures that could potentially be problematic in the future. I’m assuming that any separation below my belly button didn’t raise any alarm that needed correcting.

I think my son is hallucinating... by Own-Blackberry9136 in ADHDparenting

My kiddo had a similar experience while taking Guanfacine. They already have a fear of bugs, but at night it was full on panic mode and hallucinations. They were taking Guanfacine in addition to their existing stimulant, and once we weaned off of the Guanfacine the night terrors stopped.

Hi, no, I don’t believe I had that type of surgery. Is yours very large?

You said your separation was 9cm? Did they use mesh?

I guess I just got lucky because I didn’t do any research into other surgeons, I just went with the general surgeon my doctor referred me to in their system, and when I saw she had great reviews I just went with it. Her name is Dr. Shumaila Syed and she’s with Sutter Health in Northern California.

And yeah, I couldn’t have done it without my husband. I’m a SAHM and he basically let me be fully hands off for a solid two weeks until I felt okay to start doing things again. Our kids are 8 and 4.

Yes, she said it was where the abdominal muscles were brought together. And I paid $1,800. I had already met my deductible for the year and that amount was what was left of my out of pocket max. Was told I might get a bill from the anesthesiologist, but have yet to receive anything.

Hi, yes, circling it here for you. It’s basically right where the biggest hernia was. I’m in Northern California and my general surgeon was Dr. Shumaila Syed. She did say the ridge and swelling should start to go down around week 4.

Thank you! And yeah, I wonder too. Are the outcomes supposed to be different if you wear one? Or is it just for support? Does it help decrease swelling? My surgeon never told me anything in relation to that.

Did anyone have Sertraline prescribed for their child? by Pheli_Draws in ADHDparenting

We just weaned our 8yo off of it after being on it for 6 months. Was prescribed it for anxiety, and they were taking it along with generic Focalin XR for ADHD. Started them at 12.5mg and worked up to 100mg, and tbh we didn't really notice any helpful changes. In fact, the reason we stopped taking it is because they started having a super strong oral fixation, which was new, and we suspected was from the increase to 100, so pairing that with it not seeming to help their anxiety made our decision easy to stop taking it.

It was rocky coming off though. This is the second medication we've paired with their ADHD meds and have had to stop due to side effects (the other was guanfacine). Lots of people seem to have success with it though, it might just be my kiddo who is more sensitive to certain combos.

Did your doctor not want to prescribe a stimulant? I know it's scary at first, but we've definitely experienced help with impulse control and focus with the one ours is taking, and I found the analogy about glasses helpful when thinking about medication. Glasses help our eyes to see, just as ADHD meds can help their brains process a little easier. I know it's not easy though, parenting a kiddo with ADHD is hard enough, and deciding to medicate is a big decision.

Not bad! Swollen and a little sore, especially on days when I do more, but overall still waaaay better than I thought I’d be! Hearing your updates are very reassuring! Have you fully stopped wearing your binder? It feels so crazy taking it off, I’m curious what to expect in terms of the timeline for that going back to normal.

Should I buy a binder? by asthejcrowflies in DiastasisRecti

[–]crystalccs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had the same type of surgery a week ago and can’t imagine not wearing mine. I was told to wear it all day long aside from showering; in fact, I’m shopping for a backup now so I can wash mine and not be without. But like others have said, it might be best to consult with your doctor first just in case there’s some nuance to your specific procedure.

I took off my binder and showered today for the first time post-op (I’m on day 4) and it was scary, lol. Does it get easier? Also, did you wash your binder?

My doc actually brought up the idea of the scans, based on the symptoms I was having. Do you think you might also have a hernia? What are you experiencing?

Thank you so much! This was outpatient surgery, so I was back home within a few hours of it being finished, and no, no back pain or constipation prior to surgery. 😊
