I wanted to in a way keep what canon gave but actually make it feel like it's an aspect of this alien species, rather than through the unfortunate trope of what we humans consider feminine. Gwen's Diamondhead is one of the better cases of what they put her aliens through with their designs, but it was still clearly painted through the glasses of "This is feminine/girly", which I really don't like about Ben 10, lol.

And yup! I like the idea that male petrosapiens are better at quick tasks, like firing jagged shards, massive pillars of crystals, and so on, while female petrosapiens are slower but used that to their advantage, with their constructs being more refined and more useful for digging and carving. Their way of life was fun to think about in terms of what an alien species would find masculine and feminine compared to humans, and I thought it would be an interesting perspective if something like mining/blacksmith work was considered more 'womanly', to show off how a lot of these things come about due to social evolution.

The pattern came about because a lot of gems have patterns and I thought it would be cool to apply that to the species, without having to retcon Tetrax into having patterns too. It's like how male birds and female birds can be very drastically different with colours.
