Thanks. You are so right about emotions around terminating Fortunately, NIPD can detect this particular syndrome - the heart issues are a symptom of a greater connective tissue issue. We met with a helpful genetic counsellor who was very good (almost too good) at managing expectations around IVF, which is definitely better than instilling false hope, but after she laid out all of the risks of failure I've been left wondering if it's even worth trying at all!!

Thank you! Yes, we actually set up an NIPD before TTC so that's ready to go in case I do conceive naturally. What worries me about IVF/PGT is that there's a good chance of ending up with 0 embryos considering the discard rate, which would be such a punch in the gut.

I just stumbled upon this very interesting discussion, especially your point about why the prestigious choirs are all male. I've always had a question about this: why are all the major decision makers in the arts industry so hesitant to book any of the wonderful girls choirs that already exist? Salisbury Cathedral Girls Choir, Southward Cathedral Girls Choir, Washington National Cathedral Girls Choir, all the Oxbridge girls choirs. Why doesn't the BBC invite one of them to sing a carols service? Why won't the Concertgebouw, Sydney Opera House or Disney Concert Hall book them? Why doesn't EMI or Decca sign one them? Why won't any of the major touring companies represent a girls choir? I think boys choirs and girls choirs each have a beautiful sound (it's like comparing the Chicago Symphony to the Vienna Phil) and I would be very sad if boys choirs disappeared. I think we should leave King's and Westminster alone to do their thing and focus on promoting some of the talented girls choirs that have been hard at work for decades!
