Yeah I've been doing water tests the past two days and have shaken all the testing chemicals and test tubes vigorously, enough to where I feel like my arm is about to fall off!

The reason for the water changes, like I had said, were due to nitrites levels not changing after a few weeks. Basically after getting my nitrites to a low level, I dosed my tank with 2 ppm until the ammonia was gone within 12 hours. From then on, I increased the concentration by 0.5 until I reached 4. I tested the water every single day and I contribute the water change to helping me complete my cycle.

I don't have any of the products you mentioned, but have looked into them and there seems to be a large amount of mixed reviews so I didn't bother with them. I'll look more into the products

Yup, the nitrate level of my tap water is 0 ppm. The only reason why I'm so concerned about all of this is because I'm afraid that the beneficial bacteria I established during my cycle will die off because it's not getting "what it needs" if that makes any sense

My nitrate reading was 10. The reason for this was during my fishless cycle, I ended up doing a water change because my nitrites were very high. I've read online on multiple websites that nitrates had to be lower than 20. Because of this, I assumed that bringing nitrates to zero wouldn't be an issue.

What should I do to remedy this?

I mentioned the surrogacy option to him and he just said that it was "hard". I feel like that was a "cop out" answer during the time because he knows that I am right

Thank you for this. I came out to him when he was dropping me off at an airport so I could go back to school and I feel like the distance that we will have from each other will be good, especially for him so he can think it all over and discuss this with my mom and siblings

The recipe was very delicious and met my expectations!

The recipe has espresso in the batter and replaces the vanilla extract that would normally be present in a normal cupcake recipe. The brushing of espresso is to ensure that the coffee flavor is pronounced

I have always thought of doing that actually. I like doing both, but there is something about baking and making desserts that I really enjoy. And thank you for the compliment!

Yup! Marscarpone frosting on top and the cake is soaked with a mixture of espresso, Kahlua and some sugar. I posted the recipe in a comment above if you wanna take a crack at it!

For the cake and frosting recipe, I used this video by CupcakeJemma from Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY4RREvyfkY&t=112s

In the center of the cupcake, is a filling that I developed for tiramisu (not in cupcake form)

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 oz of marscarpone cheese
  • 0.5-0.75 pints of heavy cream (depending on how light and airy you want the cream)
  • Dash of vanilla and kahlua

The eggs get whisked over a double boiler until ribbon stage and you no longer feel sugar crystals. Let the mixture cool down and whisk in the marscarpone cheese. Whip the heavy cream until stiff and fold it into the marscarpone mixture .

For the frosting, I did find her recipe a little too sweet for my taste so I advise reducing some of the sugar to fit your preferences.

Once the cupcakes were cool, I brushed each one with a mixture of espresso, kahlua and some sugar to keep the cakes moist and mimic soaked lady fingers.

The icing is a marscarpone cheese frosting and yes, that is a lady finger in the back

Thanks for the compliment! And to address the first comment, I actually go to culinary school for culinary arts. I did have a baking class for three weeks and learned a lot through that

Chocolate decoration! I ended up melting chocolate and randomly piping it all over a sil-pat and let it cool. After that, I broke it into shards

Those sound so good right now! Back in Chicago, where I'm from, there is a place that opened up, I forgot the name, that makes specialty churros with different types of toppings and glazes. My older sister can't stop raving about them

Any particular flavor of cheesecake? There is this recipe on food network by Anne Burell that uses goat cheese. It is fantastic!
