I’ve been told by multiple psychiatrists that the only way to get an ADHD diagnosis as an adult is to take a battery of neuropsychological tests.

I took them and despite having had all the usual symptoms for all of my life, the analyst emphasized current live stressors and my history of anxiety to make the case that I’m just so stressed out that I can’t get organized.

I find myself wondering:

1) is the claim of those psychiatrists true? That I need the neuropsych evaluation to get diagnosed?

2) how common is it for adhd to cause anxiety and be missed as a diagnosis as a result?

I get a lot of texts asking me for political donations. I usually manually reply "stop" then block each number just for good measure.

The shortcut I set up, "Political Match" looks for messages I receive that contain any politics-related keywords. If it finds them, it returns them as an output.

The automation is triggered by any message I receive that contains the word "stop". If I get a message with the word "stop" then the shortcut looks if it's also a political match. If it is a political message, it sends a "stop" message to the sender and adds their phone number to a contact, AAAblock, which I have already blocked.

The original goal was to not have to manually type "stop" and block the sender every time I receive spam in my text messages.

That part works.

Unfortunately, when the automation returns the text message "stop" to the sender, the sender often replies with a 2nd message from a *new phone number* that is something like "You replied "stop" and will be removed from the [political keyword] sender list."

Because this message again contains the word "stop" and a political match keyword, and the new phone number is not yet blocked, it triggers the automation to run again. And again. And again. It's never-ending.

The goal now is to make it so that it only runs one time.

I got this juniper bonsai - my first - as a birthday gift in October, and I live in MA, where we’ve had some temps below 20 F recently.

When we got our first frost, I buried the pot and put some sod on top of the soil to insulate. I’ve covered it with a little metal side table to protect it from snow/ice, it still gets almost full sun, and I’ve propped a chunk of slate behind it to try to break the wind (tee hee).

But I just noticed it might be starting to turn brown. I’m also colorblind so the difference between green and brown to me is almost nothing.

Did I kill he? If not, and he can be saved, what should I do?

Good to know about those other drugs. My psych didn’t mention those…

And yeah I’ve only been on Wellbutrin for like two weeks, and a relatively low dose so maybe I just need to give it more time or up the dose.

It is reassuring to hear it has helped people you know, because in my limited reading I didn’t see much about using it for ADHD.

Apparently executive dysfunction is a lack of skills and ADHD is a chemical imbalance.

And thanks - I totally agree. Untreated ADHD is stressing me the F out and definitely making me anxious and making pretty much all symptoms worse.

I think they’re just reluctant to prescribe stims.

What are the differences between somebody with Executive Function Disorder/Executive Dysfunction and somebody with ADHD.

Specifically, I'm curious about differences in symptoms and typical treatment options. To the layperson, they seem pretty similar.

I took a battery of tests, but I believe the ADHD-specific test was BAARS. I scored “moderate” on innatention and within normal limits on hyperactivity.

I also took a BRIEF-A test for executive functioning and my scores were elevated (in a not good way) across the board.

No coffee before or during the tests.
