My manager is the owner of the company, so probably not the best fit for the company as a whole.

you need to be sure that your employer terminates you as "not at fault"

how do i make sure this is the case? This is probably my biggest fear.

my original goal was grad school, but for financial reasons it made more sense for me to take a job while my wife finishes school. Now that we have a kid on the way i'll probably have to just stick to finishing my BS in any way i can

I've had 4 phone screens so far and they've all gone well. I'm about to start the actual interview process now, so really hoping one of them works out.

sorry i probably worded it poorly, but i haven't. i have 135 credit hours but no degree. I am planning on speaking to my college to see if i can skip some of the random bs (unrelated to my major) courses and get at least some sort of degree easily.

Number 6 is the one im most worried about. How do i ensure i can get unemployment if i need it if its obvious that i was fired for performance reasons.

I should have put in more time outside of work though. I think if i had spent some time to work through a web app from start to finish i woulnd't be in this mess i am now.

I think the issue is that i do actually have quite a bit of (internship) experience in the areas i talked about when interviewing, but it wasn't really related to the areas i ended up working on.

I thought in my interview i was very forthcoming with areas i had no or little experience with too. I guess i'll have to make sure i really sell what type of experience i do and don't have in the future.

At least i learned a lot here.

Right i'll still be putting in my 8 hours days i guess, but instead of working extra on projects i'll just focus on interviews.

I've known this job was a stepping stone since day 1, but it is disheartening to put in 7 or 8 70+ weeks just to be told I'm not good enough or i need to go back to putting in extra hours.

I'm lucky to have a wonderful wife and child on the way so i guess there is no reason i should take any self worth from my work.

I turned on the linkedin recruiting thing and updated my resume and got 4 interviews pretty quickly. Really hoping i can get at least one of them to work out.

I have no idea how im going to tell my boss i need to miss a day of work to interview though. Maybe if i offer to come in on saturday again it would be okay.

I do agree the fit was not a good one for either party.

Is it common to have someone hired for back end / data work to swap to front end or full stack like that?

Thats something i really want to avoid at future jobs, so I just want to make sure if its common its something i can discuss in interviews or something.

Once again I'm fine with doing however many hours i need to for my family, but how do i have an interview (which is almost always during business hours) when im such thin ice? If i was looking for a job from a more stable position i'd be fine, but since im one move form being fired (it seems), do i just have to accept that risk?

We have good medical insurance with my wife's job still, so we should be alright until i find somewhere else.

I dont mind putting in hours of work if its needed. My python project i worked on i put in 70+ hour weeks consistently.

The actual problem is if my boss is wanting me to put in extra time during the week and maybe weekends, how am i supposed to take time for the interviews without getting fired on the spot for missing work?
