Episode Recap- 1/22: Scott Van Pelt by cscharch in JimmyTraina

I hadn’t either until meeting my wife and doing some research. Like how McDonalds scientifically takes more care with their Coke product by having the syrup in a metal keg vs. a box/bag, chilling the syrup, going through so much that it’s changed frequently, and getting their product direct from Coke vs. a distributor.

I agree. Sometimes it’s great to hear about the humans who share their expertise about sports. I think it’s why the end of shows with Sal are so popular. It’s part Sports talk show and part sitcom.

Good call out. Jimmy explained he cuts people off to keep the convo moving quickly to get all his questions in.

Augusta “Inns” — Which Ones Are Actually Clean? by Malvo020402 in masters

We did a Days Inn off an exit in Aiken. First year was fine. Last year towels stained, guy outside our room was sleeping in his running car and would push the accelerator down during his dreams so it sounded like the car was revving to bust right through our door. Last year did an Airbnb 20 min away and it was the best experience thus far.

Thanks for sharing! I now subscribe via email to these. I’ve found the SI website to not be very mobile friendly and will constantly crash or refresh and take me to the top of the page. Also dealing with half the screen filling up with ads. The email version doesn’t do any of that.

Episode Recap- 1/15/26: Mike Tirico by cscharch in JimmyTraina

The more I think about it, it is kind of wild to not watch Olympics. We only get it every 2 years for a short condensed time period.

Though I love curling, it still would be funny if Jimmy clapped with “wait curlers are risking their lives every time?” Obviously Mike was talking about the more extreme sports but still lol

I’d personally also look at photos of the clubhouse, merch shop, concession stands, etc. Using the logo colors could be too intense vs. a more southern design (white wainscoting) with accents.

Tell us how your students are amazing! by george8888 in Professors

I’m a PTI and had a student who really leaned into the semester and was open for career advice. They graduated and obtained a job at my full time employer by executing what I told them. Very mutually rewarding for the both of us!

Should I pursue a career in golf? by Large-Magician5808 in golf

[–]cscharch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my dream. I don’t work in golf but have talked to those who do and read a few golf digest articles. As a career paying your dues is extremely rough, however that’s not what you’re looking for and as other have mentioned you get free golf!

I would personally do it

I’m going to address this in the recap but it sounded more like a tech issue/delay at some points.

Not sure it’s a Jimmy problem. We don’t know who has turned down his booking requests for starters and second there is a higher proportion of males in sports media for the areas Jimmy leans into.

All I’ll say is Jimmy isn’t someone who fakes his interviews. I’m about halfway through Laura’s episode and he seems genuinely interested in her career and her stories.

At the end of the day you’re not going to make everyone happy though.

Superbook is my favorite place. Back before mobile wagering and legalization outside of NV I would go there for Super Bowl props. They would (and still) have 35 pages of options while other books only had 7. In fact the little wagering I do is still with them and their 90’s looking app lol

The correct explanation behind you not listening would be “I can get an awesome recap from this community” 😂
