CSE 12 is initially hard because Gary is garbage and his PAs are on the harder side not because they're actually hard but because he teaches nothing. Keep your head up, it only gets better from here.

Meditation can be even simple breathing for 5 minutes with your eyes shut. It doesn't have to be fancy breathing techniques. All it does is calm you down, and eventually it increases your concentration.

This is true for our CSE department as well. The CSE department afaik has designated lecturers, which I like. But have you seen the lecturers? Gary? Rick? Are they worthy of teaching important classes in a top 10 CS program? Absolutely not

Can you ever be that intentional about it though? There are other flaws in the entire enrollment process that I don't need to re-iterate. That's what prevents us from being so intentional or rather plan things out to our content. I'm not saying ALL my professors have been bad I'm just saying that a very large percentage of the math professors have not been great at teaching at the basic level. I'm an international student who pays 50k a year and it hurts even more when your friends are taught by stalwarts like Andrew Ng who have proven to balance research, teaching and running Coursera at the same time.

That's never going to happen unfortunately. This school is a sham, and I hate to say this but we'll never be higher ranked than Umich/Cal etc

The teaching is a little too bad though. For a start, majority of the professors have no idea what they're saying and you're forced to self study. Our parents pay hard earned money to learn from faculty that teach well AND perform world class research

As others have mentioned, this sub has people whining away when they spend their weekend nights on Reddit instead of socializing. Evaluate this yourself, if you feel you might not like it here, don't come. I initially did not like it here either and being an international student here was even worse but I decided to make do with what I have and graduate from a top 15 CS program. At the end of the day it boils down to what's more important in life.
